Description

A lateral mid-air spin to reach higher areas and attacks enemies as you land

Accelerator Tornado is a technique used by Blaze the Cat in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). When using this move, Blaze can launch herself higher into the air while attacking.

DescriptionEdit

The Accelerator Tornado is extremely similar to the Axel Tornado. When performed, Blaze jumps into the air and performs an axel jump, while raising her right fist above her head. By twirling around, it makes it easier for Blaze to move through the air, thus allowing her to slowly launch herself a couple of meters higher into the air. After twirling for a short while, she starts using her pyrokinetic abilities to emit fire from her fist, thus making her ascend through the air more offensively. When performing the Accelerator Tornado, Blaze can attack and damage any enemy she comes into contact with, and allows her as well to reach before-unreachable areas.

When performing this move in gameplay, the player has to press and hold the jump button during a jump. The longer the player holds the jump button, the higher Blaze goes into the air, until she reaches her maximum height. The player can also at any given time stop Blaze's ascend by releasing the jump button, and can as well control the direction she is ascending with the control stick.

The main difference between the Accelerator Tornado and the Axel Tornado is the high, control and speed of the ascend; While the Axel Tornado focuses on launching Blaze directly and high into the air at extreme speeds with nearly no control over her movements, the Accelerator Tornado is much slower, does not reach nearly the same heights, and focuses more on refined control over Blaze's ascend rather than a reckless burst into the air. The Accelerator Tornado can also be triggered at will, unlike the Axel Tornado, which requires a bouncy set-off to be used.
