Ancient Ruins are objects appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are small shrine-like temples that provide access to different areas through the use of the Mystic Melody.

An Ancient Ruin could was used as an altar for Aquarius' cocoon in the Eusebes Shrine.[1] An Ancient Ruin could also be found at the entrance of an ancient tomb on a forgotten island. When the Pirates of the Setting Dawn came to claim the treasure that supposedly lay inside the tomb, Captain Shellbreaker forced Princess Undina to perform the Mystic Melody on the the Ancient Ruin to open the tomb.[2] Soon after the Chaotix betrayed the pirates, Undina was requested to close the tomb doors with the Ancient Ruin to prevent them from giving chase. However, the pirates managed to hold the door open and escape.[3]
