The Anostos Rift is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a undersea crack in the ground located on the outskirts of Meropis and an emerging point for Dark Gaia Creatures.

History

The Anostos Rift was created from the earthquakes occurring at the start of the Shattered World Crisis. From it, Dark Gaia Creatures began to emerge and infest the waters surrounding Meropis, endangering the underwater population.

Trivia

• The Anostos Rift shares the name of the third city on the fictional island of Meropis mentioned by the ancient Greek writer Theopompus. This city is said to be located on the outmost border of Meropis and is described as a yarning abyss caught in a perpetual state of twilight.
