[edit] Summary

[edit] Story One

"This Island Hedgehog"

Sonic and Tails scour the skies in their bi-plane looking for Robotnik's hovercraft, instead come across Angel Island, known back then just as the Floating Island. They are shot down by Knuckles under orders from Robotnik. Unwittingly distracting each other under Robotnik's pretense, Knuckles captures them and interrogates them as to why they are on the island, thinking they are there to steal the Chaos Emerald from the Chaos Chamber below the Island. Robotnik steals it for himself to power his hovercraft and take back with him to Robotropolis. By this time, Knuckles learns the truth and teams up with Sonic and Tails for the first time, causing Robotnik to retreat. Sonic and Tails leave on their rebuilt bi-plane forging what would eventually become a real friendship and alliance with the supposedly alone Echidna.

[edit] Story Two

"Space in your Face"

While Sonic displays his artistic talents with a block of wood, Sally and Rotor uncover a new spaceship weapon of Robotniks called the Robostorm that can roboticize any Mobian from in Orbit. The FF's go to Robotropolis to sabotage the spaceship, but accidentally take off into space. Robotnik and Snively follow in a smaller space vehicle which can transform into a giant robot. The Robostorm is drained of it's power by Robotnik and lands on the Moon Muckury where the Freedom Fighters make a last ditch stand against Robotnik capturing them. Sonic uses his speed and artistic talent to build a giant statue of the vain and egocentric Robotnik, distracting him long enough for them to escape in Robotniks ship while the muck statue falls on and buries him.

[edit] Trivia

  • This issue features the comic tie-in to the videogame Sonic 3
  • Despite being shown in later issues of the Island falling without the power of the emerald keeping it aloft, the island doesn't plummet an inch after Robotnik took it, and the Emerald was on an outdoor shrine of stones instead of in the crystalline chamber that would be seen for the first time in Sonic and Knuckles.
