Sonic greets Tails at Emerald Hill Zone. He then introduces Tails to Sonic's friends and introduces his friends to Tails. Both Boomer and Tails start a friendly banter about the Tornado. Sonic comments on this and says that it's cute. Sonic says that he saw Sally working on a computer at Scrap Brain Zone, and asks if its all bad news. Sally says that it pretty much is, Dr. Eggman's production plants were still running, which essentially meant that ¨Eggman survived. An earthquqke suddenly hits them. Whille everyone was recoring for m the recent tremor, Sally says that was the worst earthquake so far, and if the earthquakes were Eggman's doing they need to stop him before he shakes the entire planet apart. Sonic wants to go and confront Eggman and "beat the ugly off him," but Sally objects saying they should cut off his power first, a plan which Sonic finds to be too slow. Tails eagerly asks if he can join Sonic on another adventure, although Sally grows unsure when noting his young age. Sonic assures her that he taught Tails how to handle himself, and the Freedom Fighters set out to stop Eggman once and for all.
Meanwhile, aboard the Death Egg, Eggman laughs that now they can move onto phase two of his plan. Snively asks what Phase One was, and Eggman replies by stating that the earthquakes they caused served as the first phase. Eggman doesn't care if he did or didn't remember what they did and whatever it was drained their power reserves. But Snively says that even though they lost most of their power, the Chaos Emeralds are quickly recharching the station. Eggman gloats, saying the that when his station reaches full power he can roboticize the world in one go. Eggman then takes a break since all they can do is wait to be victorious. Snively says that they should be paying atention to the recent disturbance of dimensions. Eggman says that he would have already won by then. But Snively says that the reading suggest that there there will be a collapse in time and space, but Eggman still doesn't care. Snively goes to the subject of stopping Sonic and the Freedom Fighters. Eggman says theat he prepared his bases for "uninvited guests"
