Endangered Species - Part OneEdit
Sonic and Team Fighters have arrived at Albion, ancestral homeland of the echidnas, flying in the Tornado II. But along the way, they are attacked by Metal Knuckles. Sonic quickly leaps into the fray, but doesn't do much good. Metal Knuckles almost destroys the Tornado, but Tails is able to make a good landing. Unfortunately, they won't be able to leave Albion any time soon.
Meanwhile, on the island, Lien-Da is leading an attack with her men. They've locked everyone on Albion, except her nephew and a few others. Remington's managed to get away with his men and organized a militia.
When Team Fighters arrives on the island, they help out Remington and his soldiers fight against some of Lien-Da's warriors. They break into the prison just in time to stop Lien-Da from revealing a terrible secret to Knuckle's mother. Sonic is attacked by Lien-Da, who attacks Sonic with some new "upgrades" (electromagnetic whips), which she reveals that she was "rebuilt" by Eggman. Sonic is knocked cold by Metal Knuckles.
Meanwhile, Knuckles prepares to join in the battle.

- This marks the first time that Metal Knuckles appears on the cover of a comic.
- On the fan art section in this issue, a picture of Sonic pointing at a box and then at the next panel Metal Sonic appears, taking Sonic's place, is a reference to the Super Mario Bros. series, where an item box turns Mario into metal.
