Sonic pulls out his figure 8 maneuver and accelerates to a speed never recorded by before by Robotnik. Metal Sonic tries to keep up but because of the heat generated by friction caused by the extreme speed, his legs melt. And Sonic zooms straight towards the finish line. Rotor catches Snively using his biplane. Sally does a parachute drop kick on Robotnik, causing him to miss out on using his trap when Sonic crosses the finish line.
Sally is busy untying Amy and Tails while Robotnik throws a fit about how he wasn’t able to use his trap. Sonic points out that he saw it coming a mile away. Since he’s a good sport he proceeds to stand under the finish line. Robotnik actives the trap. By moving quicker than lightening, Sonic escapes the trap. Robotnik proceeds to examine the device and finds that it is in perfect working order. So perfect in fact that activates while he’s under it, crushing him beneath its weight.
