Night of Chaos[]

Synopsis[]

Sonic spins, jumps and runs his way around the rooftops of Station Square, thinking about how he feels like his favorite comic book superheroes. As he speeds along in the middle of a thunderstorm, he sees the Station Square police surround a water monster. They open fire, but their bullets have no effect on the monster.

As the police retreat, Sonic jumps into the fray. He tries to spin through the creature, but his attack is ineffective. It then makes its way to the top of a nearby flagpole to gain the upper hand, but Sonic shakes it around and forces the creature to retreat into the sewers. The police congratulate Sonic on his fight while Dr. Eggman stands on the rooftops above, gloating that Sonic's war with Chaos, the God of Destruction, has only just begun.

Door to the Past[]

Synopsis[]

Knuckles the Echidna explores the Mystic Ruins, finding an ancient spear and examining it. While he is distracted, a strange light envelops Knuckles and clouds his vision. The spirit of Tikal reveals herself to Knuckles and asks for his help, explaining her history in order to convince him to lend his aid.

Tikal explains that long ago, a number of echidnas left Albion and settled a new civilization in the Mysterious Cat Country. The scientists and philosophers of the group did not wish to fight the natives and abandoned the warrior caste, known as the Knuckles Clan. Years later, Tikal and her father, Pachacamac, discovered the Mystic Ruins and the Chao who inhabited it.

As the battles with the natives continued, Tikal was left in the Mystic Ruins and befriended both the Chao and Chaos. The war for the Cat Country, meanwhile, did not play out in the Knuckles Clan's favor. In order to turn the tide of war, the Echidnas sought the seven Chaos Emeralds held within the Mystic Ruins. The Clan refused to listen to Tikal's warnings and tried to fight Chaos. Tikal explains to Knuckles that Chaos soon became corrupt trying to protect the Chao and she managed to seal him in the Black Emerald with the help of the Chao. The spirit wanders away and Knuckles follows, seeking more answers.

Meanwhile, the E-100 robots report back to Dr. Eggman with their amphibians. Eggman is furious that they failed to retrieve what he was looking for when he notices that Gamma is holding a frog with Chaos' tail. He praises Gamma and takes the frog to a machine that drains it of the energy it stole from Chaos while also sampling its DNA. With the procedure complete, Chaos takes on a humanoid form and Eggman sends it out to look for the Master Emerald shards.

In the Mysterious Cat Country, Queen Hathor orders the Chaotix to prove that they are not a threat to her people. Vector shouts at her, but the Queen scolds him and warns that her people eat their own children if they misbehave. Julie-Su asks if the queen is making a joke when Locke appears, willing to rekindle the ancient war between her people and the Knuckles Clan if she is not.

Double-Crossed Circuits[]

Synopsis[]

Only a few days ago, E-102 Gamma stared at a target created in the image of Sonic the Hedgehog and pondered the meaning of his new-found life. Dr. Eggman gave him a name and ordered him through a shooting range, where Gamma shot down dolls made in the likeness of Knuckles, Tails and Sonic. With his training complete, Eggman tasked him and his fellow E-100 Series robots to track down a certain amphibian. Gamma easily completed the task, and his brothers were discarded.

With his mission complete, Eggman tasks Gamma with heading to a prison cell and grabbing a bird for his master. Gamma hesitates, thinking, which he silently realizes is a kind of betrayal of the very unerring obedience his life was created to serve. He heads to the cell and meets Amy and her Flicky friend. Amy refuses to hand the bird over, and Gamma continues to think about his existence. Coming to a moment of self-realization, Gamma breaks open the prison cell for Amy. He receives orders to head to the deck of the ship and complies, mulling over his new feelings.
