The Artificial Chaos P-1[1] (人工カオスP-1[2] Jinkō Kaosu P-1?) is an enemy that appears in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. It is a model of synthetic life-forms created by Professor Gerald Robotnik as a part of the Artificial Chaos project, a series of experimental cyborg weapons based on the ancient deity Chaos which roam the Space Colony ARK.

Appearance[]

The Artificial Chaos P-1s are generally large pillars of water, with a grey/white mechanical head shaped like Chaos 0's sitting on top. This head has Project Shadow's symbol on its forehead, light green pupil-less eyes, turquoise outlines, and a brainstem on the bottom.

Overview[]

In Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Artificial Chaos P-1s are only found in the latter half of the games' main storylines and within the last story, but are some of the strongest foes encountered. They are found in the following Stages:

Character Stage
Normal mode Hard mode
Sonic Crazy Gadget Crazy Gadget
Final Rush
Tails Eternal Engine
Knuckles Meteor Herd
Cannon's Core
Shadow Final Chase
Dr. Eggman Cosmic Wall
Rouge Mad Space
Cannon's Core

In gameplay, the Artificial Chaos P-1s come in two variants according to attack patterns. The first variants stand on a fixed point, either on the ground or hanging down from something. They are very difficult to hit from afar, but easier when very close to them. These Artificial Chaos attack by quickly reaching out with long and extremely accurate tentacles in a circular pattern to stab the player, so while some are quite slow at turning, their attack makes up for it. A tip to avoid being hit is to be behind them, or Somersault in Sonic and Shadow's case. Alternatively, these variants will target the player with eye laser shots. The second variants also stand idly in one spot, but lack the tentacle attack. Instead, they attack with eye lasers when spotting the player or by spinning around while shooting lasers in random directions.

The Artificial Chaos P-1s' water bodies are invincible to attack, but attacking their heads will destroy them after one hit. When destroyed, they award the player with two hundred points and drop their power source: a Chaos Drive.

Powers and abilities[]

EEGC15

An Artificial Chaos P-1 attacking with its tentacles, from Sonic Adventure 2.

Artificial Chaos P-1s are capable of firing lasers from their eyes and can extend tentacle-like stretches of water from their bodies (much like Chaos 0 itself), which are sharp enough to pierce their foes. They are also capable of clinging onto ceilings and other surfaces thanks to their body being made of water. Their liquid body structure likewise renders the majority of their bodies impervious to conventional harm.

Weakness[]

The Artificial Chaos P-1s' only weak spot on their otherwise invulnerable bodies are their solid heads. If its head is damaged, the Artificial Chaos P-1 will be destroyed.
