— Description, Sonic and the Secret Rings[1]

The Back Step,[1] also known as the back flip,[2] is a technique that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When performing this move, the user does a backflip.

Description[]

When performing the Back Step, the user performs a simple back flip. In gameplay, this lets the player move backwards faster in the stages than simply walking backwards. This technique is effective in picking up any items that may have been missed recently. It is also effective in better orienting oneself in order to battle enemies.

Game appearances[]

The player can also increase the move's attack power by equipping the Fire Step Skill.
