Template:Item The Balance Beam[1] is a gimmick that appears in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. They are pink beams that Amy Rose can use to traverse the levels in the game.

Description

The Balance Beams are foot-thick grey beams with a flat footing and glow with pulses of pink light. The can either hang from the sides of the walls or levitate in midair.

The Balance Beams' purpose is to provide ways for Amy to traverse the environments in the game's levels in midair using her specific character abilities. When using a Balance Beam, Amy climbs on top of it and she will able to both walk and jump along it which is referred to as Beam Walk. This allows the player to take different paths throughout the levels which are specifically meant for her. To use a Balance Beam in gameplay, the player simply has to touch it with Amy and she will automatically grab it and swing herself onto it.

Balance Beams does not necessarily provide safe passages. Some Balance Beams will suddenly fall apart while others feature hazards along them, such as spiked pendulum swinging between them and carts rolling on top of them. Some also require to be pulled out with switches or EnerBeams to be used.
