Balloon Panic is a course that appears in Sonic Drift 2. It is a racing track, apparently located in the Green Hill Zone, which is filled with balloons. It is the third course in the Blue Chaos GP.

Overview

Balloon Panic's setting is based on Green Hill Zone. The region is that of a tropical paradise on a green-striped meadow with shady palm trees growing there and brown-striped landmasses around it. The sky overcasting Balloon Panic is bright blue with only a few white clouds, and is as well thronged with both regular balloons and brightly-colored hot air balloons drifting above.

In the background, there are rectangular hills whose landmasses have checkerboard patterned soil in different shades of brown, with rolling grassy plains on top and several waterfalls running down them. Also, even further away into the background there is a clear view of the blue sea with a few islands dotting the horizon.

The racing track through Balloon Panic is mainly colored in alternating grey horizontal stripes in different shades with similarly colored pink and white edges. On the sides of the tracks there are also occasionally flag poles with red flags on them.

Gameplay

In Balloon Panic, the player's objective is to get the top position in the race. Racing outside the border of the asphalt track will cause the player to lose speed immediately. Additionally, the flag poles on the outside of the racetracks will cause the playable characters to come to an immediately stop and lose a Ring if they collide with them.

Spread all over the racing track of Balloon Panic are various Balloon Power-ups that immediately grants the racers different effects when touching them, similar to the regular power-ups and obstacles in the game. The effect the racer obtains from touching a Balloon Power-up depends on its color:

In addition to the Balloon Power-ups there are also Balloon Cushions that will pull the player sideways when touching them.[1]

Description

In Balloon Panic, the player races on a circular racing track encompassing the entire map. Here, the player's objective is to complete three laps of the racetrack. The fastest racer to complete three laps is rewarded with a Chaos Emerald.
