The shockwaves emitted when you grab and pound the target to the ground will do additional damage to nearby foes.

— Description, Sonic Unleashed[1]

Beatdown is one of the skills usable to Sonic the Werehog in the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed. It is unlocked after the player has collected 12,500 Dark Gaia Force Orbs on the Orb Result screen. When using this move, Sonic slams his opponent repeatedly on the ground.

Description[]

When using this move, Sonic grabs a nearby foe and begins swinging it back and forth over himself, slamming it to the ground with such force that it creates shockwaves upon impact. After having slammed the foe into the ground five times, Sonic jumps into the air and crushes it with a final hit to the ground. In gameplay, it can as well hit other enemies nearby with its shockwaves.

To perform the Beatdown in gameplay, the player has to grab and hold on to the enemy. In the Wii version, the player then has to swing both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck simultaneously to execute the Beatdown. Parallel on the PlayStation 2 version of the game, the player then has to press the Circle/Square/PSTriangleButton to execute the Beatdown.

Trivia[]

  • In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed, the player can perform an action similar to Beatdown by using Grab on an opponent and pressing PSTriangleButton/XboxY.
  • The Beatdown move cannot be used while in Unleashed Mode, as using the same controls for the Beatdown move while in Unleashed Mode will instead trigger the Were-Whirl.
