Sonic explains the situation to them, before being interrupted by Eggman impatiently calling for the breakfast that he has ordered (a "salmon eggs benedict"). Tails happens to be finishing the meal at that same moment and hands it to him, only for Eggman to harshly comment that the egg yolks are not removed and that the salmon has been farm-raised. Meanwhile, Sticks is suspicious over Eggman's stay, claiming that he will unleash a "50-foot [[Obliteratorbot]]". Amy however, defends the doctor, explaining that if they do not cut him some slack, they will "be no better than he is", (with Eggman verbally agreeing with her on this, while reluctantly eating his breakfast). Amy then tries to explain Eggman's point-of-view to everyone else–only to end up annoying the doctor–while Tails also agrees to keep him around, claiming that he "might not be so bad after all".

As the day passes, Dr. Eggman proves to be a challenging roommate. His obnoxious actions range from randomly starting pillow fights, (causing Tails to break a part of his new Tornado and forcing Sonic to vacuum to no avail) to snoring loudly and laughing maniacally in his sleep, to even putting all of the food in the fridge into padlocked tuberwares (much to Sticks' dismay). Finally, Sonic and Tails get tired of having Eggman disrupting their lives, and plot to kick him out of the house. Amy defends Eggman yet again, claiming that they have a communication problem and that they should talk things out instead. Despite their protest, Sonic and Tails attend a "roommate meeting", where Amy tells everyone to say whatever they have to share with each other. Sonic makes a harsh comment towards Eggman, (despite having just promised to say his words delicately) causing Eggman to burst into tears. He attempts to guilt-trip them, by calling himself the 'worst roommate ever', and that he has never lived with anyone else, (excluding the fact that he lives with Orbot and Cubot). Amy convinces Sonic to give Eggman a second chance, and he begrudgingly agrees, provided that he makes an effort to improve.

Sonic and Tails are exhausted by morning as a result. Sticks claims that their tiredness is another part of Eggman's evil schemes. As predicted, Eggman sneaks out back and summons [[Obliteratorbot]]. He reveals that he had lied about his fortress being destroyed and that his goal was to exhaust Sonic and Tails to the point where they could not defeat his mech. He then tells Obliteratorbot to destroy the group, though the robot misinterprets this as a cue to destroy Eggman's lair, (due to a problem with his programming as Orbot points out immediately after). The group of six teams up to stop it, with Sonic only agreeing to help since he does not want to live with Eggman any longer.

Plot

On a rainy night in Tails' house, Sonic and Tails are sleeping until Sonic is awoken by a repeated knocking at the door (though he does not answer until it becomes more aggressive). It turns out to be Dr. Eggman, who pleads to crash on Sonic and Tails' couch for a few days with the excuse of his fortress needing to be repaired after suffering damage from the storm. Sonic is at first skeptical, thinking that Eggman may attack them during his stay, but he is reassured when Eggman promises that he is unarmed. Sonic reluctantly agrees, on the conditions that he only stays for a few days, and that it is only him. The doctor promises, only to instantly reveal that Orbot and Cubot are with him too, claiming that they are family.

The next morning, a sleepy Sonic lets Amy, Knuckles, and Sticks into the house, where the three are shocked to see that Eggman is staying with them. Meanwhile, Sticks is suspicious over Eggman's stay, claiming that he will unleash a "50-foot obliterator-bot".

His obnoxious actions range from randomly starting pillow fights, (causing Tails to break a part of his new Tornado and forcing Sonic to vacuum to no avail) to snoring loudly and laughing maniacally in his sleep, to even putting all of the food in the fridge into padlocked tupperwares (much to Sticks' dismay). Finally, Sonic and Tails get tired of having Eggman disrupting their lives, and plot to kick him out of the house. Amy defends Eggman yet again, claiming that they have a communication problem and that they should talk things out instead. Sonic makes a harsh comment towards Eggman, (despite having just promised to say his words delicately) causing Eggman to burst into tears. Amy convinces Sonic to give Eggman a second chance, and he begrudgingly agrees, provided that he makes an effort to improve.

As another day passes, Eggman makes repeated efforts to improve upon the issues that everyone else had with him, until he forces Sonic to keep playing a board game and watch a comedy show with him despite the late hour. Sonic and Tails are exhausted by morning as a result. Sticks claims that their tiredness is another part of Eggman's evil schemes. As predicted, Eggman sneaks out back and summons Obliteratorbot.

At the fortress, the team agrees for Sonic and Tails to depress two kill-switches to stop the robot while everyone else distracts it. Despite their drowsiness, they manage to follow through with this plan and destroy the mech, which also led the fortress to be severely damaged. A day later, while Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Sticks are lounging on the beach, Eggman walks up with a pair of suitcases and proposes that he stay with them once more until his lair can truly be fixed. However, Sonic pushes Eggman back to the ruins of his lair. Amy follows them and starts a mental activity with Eggman, helping him explore his feelings about being a roommate, only for Eggman to run off screaming.

Trivia

  • This episode was first revealed at the 2014 Sonic Boom event.[3]
  • This episode is mistakenly called "Can an Evil Genius Crash on Your Couch for a Few Weeks". It was named that prior to its release, and afterwards on the Cartoon Network website.
  • Eggman requested a "Salmon Eggs Benedict," which is part of a mythology gag of the Sonic series that Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik has an egg-based diet.
  • The board game that Eggman, Sonic, and Tails were playing is based on Green Hill Zone.
  • The salmon eggs benedict that Tails prepares for Eggman near the beginning of the episode is actually not a true "benedict". Real benedicts are served on English muffins with the eggs poached, while in this scenario, the egg is sunny-side-up and the benedict is served on regular toast.
