The Carnival Night Zone is a location that appears in Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is a theme park Zone originally constructed on the Floating Island. Supervised by the Marxio Brothers and Trooper patrols, the Zone was meant to be a money-maker for Dr. Robotnik.[2] However, the Zone was removed from the island by Knuckles the Echidna.

Description[]

The Carnival Night Zone is an impressive feat of engineering and an attraction for the richer residents of Mobius. Like the traditional theme park, the Zone is littered with rides, neon lights and fast food stalls. One particular attraction is the Hell House Ride, a rollercoaster through dark dungeons with ghouls and mud creatures.

In the center of the Zone, the Marxio Brothers have a control center for overseeing on their operations. Knuckles was given his own office but quickly abandoned it.[3] The Zone itself was protected against intruders by Troopers and Construction Robots.[1]

History[]

The Carnival Night Zone appeared on a historical site on the Floating Island during Knuckles' brief absence from the island. Serving as a replacement for the Casino Night Zone after it had been liberated, its purpose was to provide a source of income for Dr. Robotnik.[1][2]

Upon Knuckles' discovery of the Carnival Night Zone, the Marxio Brothers, who acted as the Zone's supervisors, tricked Knuckles into thinking that Robotnik was not involved and promised to give him revenue from the park to fix up the Floating Island's monuments. Knuckles was then treated with a ride in Hell House Ride, although the Marxio Brothers' planned to kill him on the track.[1][4] Though it failed, Knuckles was satisfied with the ride and let the Carnival Night Zone stay.[5]

Carnival Night Zone goes bye bye

After the brothers made Knuckles the Carnival Night Zone's "marketing consultant" to distract him, the echidna left to destroy the Launch Base Zone. As the Marxio Brothers followed, Chicio accidentally revealed that they worked for Robotnik. Knuckles thus began to battle them and then a horde of Badnik reinforcements. In the meantime, Emerald Hill Folks were arriving to visit the Carnival Night Zone.[3][2] Before they could enter, Knuckles got rid of the Badniks and literally excised the Carnival Night Zone from the Floating Island: he struck a fault-line with his fist, breaking the Zone off from the larger landmass. As the Carnival Night Zone plummeted down to Mobius, it crashed in the Emerald Hill Zone, although the remaining Emerald power in its foundation would cushion its fall.[6]
