All the Chao Egg colors

Chao Eggs are eggs which are hatched for the Chao Gardens in Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

Chao eggs are bought off of the Black Market in the Chao Kindergarten in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, or buying them in the Black Market in Station Square's Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure DX.

Chao Eggs can also be found in various areas in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, which will hatch into Chao that can assist the player in battle.

They can be hatched in various ways. Players can wait for the egg to hatch normally, throw the egg against a hard surface (this results in the newborn Chao becoming dizzy) or snuggling it (the Chao will like this the most). Once an egg has hatched, it will break into two pieces. One will eventually disappear, but the other can be picked up by the player. It can be sold at the Black Market but it can also be given to a Chao so they will wear it on their head with two wholes in it for eyes. When this happens, the only way to remove the eggshell is by hitting the Chao, thus making the Chao dislike you.

Trivia

  • To save money, one can breed a shiny Chao with a colored Chao to make a shiny colored Chao.
  • The Black Egg is the most expensive un-shiny egg a player can buy. The second being the Lime Green Egg and the third being the Gray Egg.
  • Colored Chao (such as a Green Chao) cannot change their colored appearance. They will stay at the same color regardless of alignment or type. These are referred to as Monotone Chao by some.
