Chaos Punishment (カオスパニッシュメント Kaosu Panisshumento?) is a Soul Surge technique and chaos power used by Sir Lancelot and Shadow the Hedgehog (multiplayer only) in Sonic and the Black Knight. When using this technique, the user performs Chaos Control to warp up in front of an enemy and either deliver a quick strike with a sword, launch a powerful kick, or accelerate to top speed.

Description[]

In order to perform Chaos Punishment in gameplay, the user's Soul Gauge must contain some energy. To activate it in gameplay, the player must press WiiB. To cancel the move while being used, the player must press WiiB. Using this Soul Surge deceases the energy in the Soul Gauge and if it runs out of energy, the move will end.

Chaos Punishment can be executed in three ways, depending on the player's actions during the move; either to attack enemies, launch a kick to bump enemies or to advance quicker through the stages (Adventure Mode only).

Attack[]

If Chaos Punishment is performed as a means of offense, the user will shout "Chaos Punishment" and then use Chaos Control to warp up in front of the nearest enemy. Once in front of the opponent, the user delivering a quick slash with his sword. Curiously, when the user attacks the opponent, time appears to have stopped.

To perform this variant of Chaos Punishment in gameplay, the player must activate this Soul Surge within the attack range of enemies. When doing so, the player will appear before any enemy in front of the playable character and target it with a red reticle. For then to strike the targeted enemey, the player has to swing the Wii Remote. This attack is strong enough to kill any lesser enemies, counter attacks or deal massive damage to tougher enemies. Once the enemy has been struck, the player warps to the next nearby foe and the cycle continues. If the player attacks when the reticle is glowing bright white and the user's blade is glowing, the player can perform a Perfect Hit for more damage and extra points. This move can be used both when the playable character is in midair or when standing on the ground.

When Sir Lancelot has the Ddraig Goch equipped, he gains the Skill Knight of Chaos, which allows him to use Chaos Blast when he strikes his opponents, allowing him to hit several enemies at once within a certain area.

Kick[]

If Chaos Punishment is performed as a mean of launching a kick at opponents, Lancelot will use Chaos Control to warp up in front an enemy. Lancelot will then bring a downward kick down on top of the opponent while in midair.

To perform this variant of Chaos Punishment in gameplay, the player must activate this Soul Surge within the attack range of enemies. When doing so, the player will appear before any interactable object in front of the playable character and target it with a red reticle. To strike the target, the player then has to swing the Nunchuck remote. This attack momentarily stuns enemies and can trigger reactions in certain objects, but it deals very little damage to enemies.

Speed Boost[]

If Chaos Punishment is used to give an increase in speed, Lancelot will briefly charge up the move, with small rings of energy emitting from his feet. He then initiates Chaos Control and warps over longer distances in the form of a high-speed dash, akin to Speed Break from Sonic and the Secret Rings.

To perform this variant of Chaos Punishment in gameplay, the player must activate this Soul Surge when there are no enemies in range. For then to initiate the speed boost, the player has to swing the Wii Remote, and Lancelot will take off at extreme speeds. This allows the player to get through the stages quicker and pass through most obstacles before they can react to Lancelot's presence. While moving at these speeds, however, the player's controls becomes slightly more difficult. Also, if Lancelot encounters an enemy while using Chaos Punishment as a speed boost, he will automatically switch to the attack variant of it. Note that spiked obstacles can stop the move.
