The chili dog is an object that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is a food product consumed on Mobius, which is made and sold by several parties. It is also said to be one of Sonic the Hedgehog's favorite foods.[1][2]

Description

As the name suggests, the chili dog is a generic name for a hot dog served in a bun and topped with a spicy substance known as chili.[2]

History

When the global power blackout hit Mobius, chili dog production was put on hold until power was restored, much to Sonic the Hedgehog's delight.[1] Sonic could later buy chili dogs after turning Perfection into a theme park.[2]

Trivia

  • Sonic the Hedgehog's fondness for chili dogs is something that has been a staple of Sonic's characterization in western territories, having been first established in the animated series, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. In the years since, the chili dog has been established as Sonic's favorite food in just about every Sonic-related media, eventually making its way into the games' canon as well.

  • The earliest canon reference to Sonic's enjoyment of hot dogs (rather than the more specific chili dogs) in any media was in Sonic the Comic #5, where Sonic sits down to eat 300 hot dogs and 100 thick shakes as the second course of breakfast (the first course of which consisted of 200 hamburgers, much to Tails' disgust). However, this doesn't seem to be much of a problem to Sonic since it can be implied that he can burn off the calories with his running (narrowly avoiding the fact that it would be impossible, even for Sonic, to eat all of the food in a single sitting).
