Climbable Walls[1] are a gimmick that appears in the Sonic Boom series. They are a type of walls that indicate where Knuckles can use Climbing.
Description[]
The Climbable Walls are vertical walls covered entirely in deep red and rough-edged crystals.
Overview[]
In Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, the Climbable Walls' purpose is to provide ways for Knuckles to traverse the environments in the game's levels using his specific character abilities. In gameplay, they indicate the areas on the vertical walls that the player can utilize Knuckles' Climbing to scale them. To use the Climbable Walls in gameplay, the player just has to jump onto them. While using Climbing on the Climbable Walls, Knuckles can jump in any direction along them to traverse them faster.
Climbable Walls do not necessarily provide safe passages. Some of them have their path block by obstacles. However, Knuckles can still perform standard attacks while utilizing the Climbable Walls to destroy breakable obstacles, such as rocks. Other Climbable Walls have spiked balls attached to them or spikes that protrude and retract, which the player must navigate around or across carefully to avoid taking damage upon contact.
