Coconuts is one of the main antagonists in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. He is a Badnik created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik and an unofficial member of the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad. Next to Scratch and Grounder, Coconuts is one of Robotnik's primary henchmen, though he mostly serves as the doctor's janitor due to a demotion, much to his dismay.
Appearance
Coconuts wears a gray jumpsuit with a chest screen and buttons with red boots. He has lanky limbs, big monkey ears and cartoonish black eyes with no pupils. He also has a siren on his head which flashes rotating lights when he is excited.
History
At some point, Coconuts was demoted to Dr. Robotnik's janitor, a position he was not very happy with. He therefore wanted to capture Sonic, hoping that doing so would earn him a promotion.
While not as active as his fellow Badniks Scratch and Grounder, whenever Coconuts was, he would usually attempt to go after Sonic himself and make sure that Scratch and Grounder did not beat him to the punch. Many times, his plans almost succeeded until Scratch and Grounder came along and screw things up. However, they did team up to go after Sonic on occasion.
In the episode "Super Robotnik", he got his wish for a promotion (to First Lieutenant) when an accident of his led to Robotnik acquiring superpowers, with the added bonus of Scratch and Grounder getting demoted, though he lost it when Sonic defeated Robotnik and used a serum designed by Professor Von Schlemmer to depower Robotnik.
Personality
Coconuts is grumpy, cynical and obsessive over proving himself better than Scratch and Grounder. He has a lot of tenacity and does not back down easily. Despite his low status and general disrespect by his peers, Coconuts has proven he is much smarter than Scratch and Grounder, often being the only one to see through Sonic's disguises and even managing to capture Sonic on more than one occasion. He despises his role as Robotnik's janitor.
Powers and abilities
Coconuts is able to use coconut-bomb to throw at his targets. He is also a good climber and has significant acrobatic skills. He also got a prehensile tail, which he uses occasionally.
He is also sometimes seen riding a motorized unicycle-like vehicle a few time in the series.

Coconuts appears as the fourth stage's opponent in both 16-bit and 8-bit versions of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Like in the cartoon, he claims to be the doctor's favorite and is ready to finish off the player in flash. As the 16-bit version of the game is basically a Western edition of Puyo Puyo, Coconuts plays like Harpy as they both tend to stack their beans to the sides first.
Archie Comics

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics, Coconuts was originally part of the "elite" Badnik squad, the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad, which was tasked with hunting down and defeating the young Sonic the Hedgehog.
Coconuts, markedly more intelligent and threatening, was a late addition to the squad and often worked solo. But while Coconuts had some tactical skill, he fell prey to an ego and maniacal nature that surpassed even Scratch. Even after Scratch and Grounder had given up the chase, Coconuts tried to rally a few remaining badniks and champion the return of Pseudo-Sonic, only to fail. Later, Coconuts would find work in Casino Nights as Mammoth Mogul's assistant, much to Coconuts' disgust; for all his delusions of grandeur, he had become just a "bulter monkey."
After the events of Worlds Collide, Coconuts' history remained largely the same, although with a few differences. Currently, he works as Breezie the Hedgehog's personal assistant at Breeze Media.

Trivia
- Coconuts is based on the tree-hanging monkey badnik first seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The designs are largely the same, the biggest differences being Coconut's headlight which does not exist on his game counterpart's design.
- Ironically, since Harpy is the fourth opponent from Puyo Puyo, Coconuts' MBM AI is relatively weak, whereas he is clearly smarter than both Scratch and Grounder (who are higher-level opponents in Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine) in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
