Coconuts is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is a mass-produced monkey-based Badnik variant created by Dr. Robotnik.

Appearance

Coconuts are monkey-like Badniks. The first Coconuts had life-like monkey heads with black fur and tan faces, a large grey torso with a yellow stripe down the middle, short grey legs with black feet, and a string of grey spheres with clamp-like hands for arms.

Later models of Coconuts were smaller in size and had body-shapes akin to that of Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. These models are primarily brown, with their ears and feet being yellow and their arms, tail, and legs being grey.

History

The Coconuts Badniks were first seen attacking the monkeys of Forest Hills with Kid Cruel, who was an employer of Dr. Robotnik, as their leader. All the children of town were used as power source for these Coconuts, who had bombs inside of them, while Kid Cruel forced the town to hand over every scrap of gold from their mines. As Sonic came to save the town, he managed to remove the bombs and get all the children of the Coconuts Badniks, leading to Kid Cruel's defeat.[1]

Three Coconuts were later stationed on the Floating Island. There, the trio waited in the trees to ambush Knuckles the Echidna. However they got noticed and destroyed by Shortfuse the Cybernik during their act, earning the echidna's trust and alliance.[2] During the Freedom Fighters infiltration of a Badnik Processing Plant, both Amy Rose and Porker Lewis would don Coconuts disguises to sneak past the security.[3][4]
