The Control Centre is a location that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It is the tower headquarters of the group formerly known as the Freedom Fighters. It was constructed in the Emerald Hill Village in the days following Dr. Robotnik's fall from power as dictator of Mobius.

It contains the Kintobor Computer, which is linked up to a network of sensors around the Zone, providing early warning if the Zone is ever attacked. The Kintobor Computer also monitors communications from around Mobius, allowing members of the former Freedom Fighters (such as Sonic the Hedgehog) to respond to distress calls.

History[]

Following Doctor Robotnik's fall from power[1] and the subsequent return of the Emerald Hill Folk from their self-imposed exile on the Floating Island,[2] the remaining members of the Freedom Fighters (including Sonic, Tails and Amy) built the Control Centre as a new base in the Emerald Hill Village. They uploaded the Kintobor Computer into the tower's system, where he could connect to a network of sensors around the Zone. Unfortunately, before Kintobor could get used to the new system, the Control Centre was attacked by Robotnik and his Badniks, including the Knuckles Metallix, who kidnapped Sonic and fled through a Mobius Ring (although Sonic later escaped).[3]

Sometime later, Kintobor received an audio-only communication from the Marxio Brothers in the Chemical Plant Zone, asking for Sonic's help.[4]

The Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe attempted to destroy the Control Centre on behalf of Robotnik on New Year's Day. Member Wally Dithers first distracted Sonic by convincing the weak-willed, indecisive locals to attack the hedgehog, then tried to blow up the Control Centre with a tank. However, Sonic saw through the distraction and managed to destroy the tank when Dithers was unable to decide what weapon to use against Sonic.[5]
