Gotta get to Hypnobot. But we have to smash through these chumps first!

— Cyborg Sonic, "Robots From The Sky Part 4"

Cyborg Sonic[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic Boom television series. He is the cyborg clone of Sonic the Hedgehog and the leader of Team Cybonic.[1] He was made by Bolts from Sonic's DNA and Roboken's technology for the purpose of helping Team Sonic defend Roboken from Hypnobot. Currently, he serves as one of Roboken's protectors.[2]

Appearance

Cyborg Sonic is the spitting image of Sonic, being almost identical to him in terms of anatomy. Cyborg Sonic, however, is made of a form of metal that behaves like flesh and fur. By comparison, Cyborg Sonic's body and quills have recesses and bolts along the lines of his framework. He also has gray metal where Sonic has peach skin and sports tape, black shoulder and leg joints, and completely light blue eyes with only slightly brighter irises.

Like Sonic, Cyborg Sonic wears gloves and shoes with cuffs, both of which are made from flexible gray metal. Unlike Sonic's clothes however, the gloves have recesses and bolts along the lines of his framework while the shoes only have red tips. Additionally, he wears a metallic version of Sonic's scarf.

While on Eggman's soccer team, Cyborg Sonic wore a soccer uniform that included a black and red t-shirt with an Eggman Industries chest logo, long red socks, and red shoes with white tongues and black laces and soles.[3]

Cyborg Sonic was created at the same time as the rest of Team Cybonic by Bolts from DNA donated by Sonic. His purpose was to help Team Sonic take back Morristown when Hypnobot and Dr. Eggman invaded it with their hypnotized robots, and was designed with an organic brain so Hypnobot could not infect him. After getting introduced to Team Sonic, Cyborg Sonic and his team entered Morristown from the bunker of their birth. With Hypnobot unable to control him, Cyborg Sonic helped his counterpart and allies destroy the invading robots until Hypnobot was defeated and Eggman retreated with his army. Afterward, Cyborg Sonic decided to remain in Morristown (now renamed "Roboken") with his team to keep the city safe.[2]

Finding Eggman in Roboken again, Cyborg Sonic and his team attacked him until he revealed that he had come with a peace offer. While talking however, Cyborg Sonic, like his friends, got tricked by Eggman into wearing a mind control-bracelet. Now slaves to Eggman, Cyborg Sonic and co. were brought to Seaside Island to beat Team Sonic in a soccer match. With Eggman promising the cyborgs' freedom after the game, Team Sonic agreed to the match-up. However, Cyborg Sonic and co. proved too evenly matched with Team Sonic at practice, so they got reprogramed by Eggman to be meaner (but dumber) which gave them an edge. At the game however, Team Cybonic lost when Team Sonic exploited their stupidity. Cyborg Sonic proceeded to attack Team Sonic on Eggman's order, but the heroes freed him and Team Cybonic by removing their bracelets. The teams then got some payback at Eggman.[3]

Cyborg Sonic and Mighton on the hunt for Eggman.

Finding Eggman in Roboken again, Cyborg Sonic let him go after learning that the doctor was just there on vacation with his robot family. After Mighton discovered Eggman's theft of Bolts' smart chip though, Cyborg Sonic joined Mighton in his pursuit of Eggman. Following Eggman to earth, Cyborg Sonic and Mighton confronted him, with Team Sonic coming to the duo's aid. In the ensuing battle with Eggman's smart chip-upgraded robots, the smart chip ended up with Mombot, prompting Cyborg Sonic and its allies to rush her. However, the Eggman family got in their way, and Eggman returned the chip to them to save Mombot.[4]

Personality

A biomechanical cyborg, Cyborg Sonic is intelligent and has both the free will and emotions of an organic lifeform. Being Sonic's clone, Cyborg Sonic takes after his counterpart in terms of personality, possessing Sonic's trademark cockiness, brash attitude, straight man bluntness and penchant for leadership.[2][3] Much like Sonic, he is also committed to the greater good. Cyborg Sonic is likewise very serious about protecting Roboken and its people from evil, to the point where he may act threatening towards a perceived threat.[2][3][4]

Although partly organic, Cyborg Sonic is still a machine ruled by coding. As such, when confronted with something he cannot compute, he can freeze up.[3]

Powers and abilities

Cyborg Sonic is every bit as formidable a fighter as its counterpart. Regarded as Sonic's equal, he is powerful enough to match Sonic perfectly both physically and skill-wise.[2][3]

Being Sonic's clone, Cyborg Sonic can run at super speeds equaling that of Sonic's.[2] He can also perform the spin attack, a technique where he curls tightly into a concussive ball. In this stance, Cyborg Sonic can damage, destroy and mow down obstacles or foes when in motion.[4] He is also able to fly using thrusters on his feet and fire lasers from his fingertips.[2][3] Also, because Cyborg Sonic has an organic brain, his systems are immune to malware signals.[2]
