When performing the Darkness Slash, Alf Layla wa-Layla approaches his opponent before slashing away at them. Following a delayed reaction, a flaming trail is then ignited along where Alf Layla wa-Layla swiped his slash.
The Darkness Slash is only used during Alf Layla wa-Layla's battle with Darkspine Sonic. When used, a small trail of light is shown, indicating where the attack will appear. A second later, the flaming trail appears, damaging the player if they are caught within it. The slash may be performed in several ways; with two from upper left, two from upper right, three from upper left, three from upper right; in an X shape; in very multiple crossing lines with very few safe spots; or in three from the top, one from right side along the bottom. Almost all his attacks can be avoided by moving toward unslashed areas. The right-side slash can be avoided by Spin Jumping and then Homing Attacking.
