A squirt like you has been reuniting too many beans. I reckon I'll have to pioneer some new techniques.

— Davy Sprocket, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (16-bit)

Davy Sprocket is a character that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. He is a bounty hunter Badnik created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Appearance[]

Davy Spyrocket sprite

Originally, in "Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad", Davy Sprocket is a tall and thin humanoid robot whose body is mostly plum in color. He has a pink head, along with pink arms and leg parts. He also has dark purple eyes. Davy also has a characteristic pointed nose and a metallic version of a raccoon hat. In "The Last Resort" on the other hand, his color scheme is yellow and orange.

In Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Davy Sprocket has a purple and magenta color scheme.

Past[]

Arms and Davy Sprocket with Sonic, from "Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad".

In the recent past, Dr. Robotnik gathered many of his old bounty hunter Badniks, including Davy Sprocket. The doctor told them that he wanted them to catch Sonic, and if they did, he would give them one billion Mobiums. Immediately afterward, all the Badniks headed out in an attempt to catch the hedgehog when he revealed himself. Along the way, Dragon Breath told them to split into different groups to catch Sonic. Davy Sprocket went with Arms. When they found Sonic, he had them hold onto a rope and made them crash into a mountain, destroying them both.[1]

Season one[]

Eventually, a giant, yellow Davy Sprocket was sent along with other two unnamed Badniks to attack a city. However, before they could destroy anything, they were forced to retreat as a part of Dr. Robotnik's announcement for his supposed retirement.[2]

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine[]

In the 16-bit version and 8-bit version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Dr. Robotnik assembled many of his old bounty hunter Badniks, including Davy Sprocket, and told them to kidnap the Beans that inhabited Beanville so he could turn them into robot slaves using his Mean Bean-Steaming Machine. Later, Davy Sprocket was the fifth Badnik the player battled and defeated.

Personality[]

Davy Sprocket is an unintelligent robot, who can easily be tricked by his enemies. When he is standing still, he has the habit of standing on his knees and searching at the same time.

In contrast with his stupid nature, Davy Sprocket is a very violent robot, who carries out his leader's orders without question. As a bounty hunter, he also loves money, and will do whatever he can in order to earn tons of Mobiums.[1]

Battle[]

Davy Sprocket is the fifth boss in the 16-bit version and 8-bit version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

Boss guide[]

Like with the other bosses, the battle against Davy Sprocket takes place in two "dungeons" on each side, the left one being from the player and the right one from Davy Sprocket.[3] To defeat Davy Sprocket, the player has to fill his dungeon to the point where he is unable to drop any more beans. This can be done by dropping Refugee Beans into his dungeon, though Davy Sprocket himself can fill his own dungeon by accident.

During the battle, Davy Sprocket is more aggressive than the previous opponents. He will fast drop beans more often and aim for combos. Otherwise, he does not pose much of a challenge and can be defeated easily.

The player loses when their dungeon is full of beans. After that, they are sent to a Continue screen and given the option to play again. If they win, however, the game will lead to the next boss, Skweel.

Trivia[]

  • In this battle, Davy Sprocket has the same AI as Sasoriman from Puyo Puyo, the game on which Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is based.
