Death's Eye is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was a starfish-like Black Arms creature that acted as a "seeing eye" for Black Death.
Death's Eye takes the appearance of a grey starfish with six squamous probes striped with red lines and a brutally large red-orange eye in its center. Around its eye and moving along its limbs, it has six red triangle-markings.
When arriving there, Death's Eye spied on Team Dark and the Spider Troupe as they infiltrate the New Black Comet and relaying the footage to Black Death. When Eclipse the Darkling's attempts to brainwash Shadow the Hedgehog failed, Black Death had Death's Eye peer into Shadow's mind and prevent him from blocking out the mind control.
Death's Eye later relayed the battle between the mind-controlled Shadow against Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega. After Rouge and Omega freed Shadow from the mind control, Death's Eye fled as Omega shot at it after the team noticed its presence. When Shadow went to destroy Black Death, Death's Eye desperately attempted to convince Shadow to stop but was knocked away. After realizing that he would win in their battle, Black Death had Death's Eye forcibly drag an exhausted Eclipse to an escape pod with the Dark Arms larvae and piloted the escape pod to safety. To Eclipse's horror, Death's Eye fell lifeless without a hive-mind, signifying Black Death's death.
Like most Black Arms soldiers, Death's Eye had no actual personality of its own and was but an extension of Black Death's will. However, it does show a small degree of sentience, like when it piloted Eclipse's spaceship itself.
Powers and abilities
Death's Eye provided more of a reconnaissance role for Black Death and thus held skills most sufficient for these tasks. It could relay what it saw via video footage that came from Black Death's third eye and allowed Black Death to speak through it to someone that is not in the same room as him. Being little more than an extension of Black Death, Death's Eye could exert Black Death's hive-mind commands to his lesser kinds and use it to prevent someone from resisting mind control.
Death's Eye was capable of levitation and could move nimbly through midair at great speeds, such as keeping up with Shadow's mundane speed and easily dodge laser shots. It was also strong enough to carry either Eclipse or Shadow in its tentacles.
Like all the other Black Arms, Death's Eye life was connected to the hive-mind of its kind. That meant that if Black Death died, so would it.
- Death's Eye serves the same purpose as, and looks almost identical to, Doom's Eye, the seeing eye of Black Doom from the Shadow the Hedgehog game, where it would assist Shadow in missions, essentially representing Black Doom.
