Classic Death Egg IDW

Blueprints of the Death Egg, from Sonic the Hedgehog 30th Anniversary Special.

The common Death Egg is a spherical gray space station that resembles the face of Dr. Eggman, with concave eye-sockets, a sharp nose, and a mustache rendered in kilometers of vacuum-hardened plasma-steel. The northern hemisphere of the station also has markings looking like the doctor's mouth, although it has varied between depicted as a smile or a frown. One thing that the Death Eggs all have in common is that their dimensions are easily gargantuan; the original model can easily cover up almost half of Scrapnik Island.[1]

Old Death Egg IDW

The original Death Egg on Scrapnik Island, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Scrapnik Island #1.

The original Death Egg model, currently found on Scrapnik Island, looks the same as the standard model. However, years of negligence have severaly decayed and damaged it, with moisture and moss all over it. It also has a good chunk of it ripped apart, with the left eye being completely missing, and with its core, which is off-centered, being visible from above. Similarly, almost half of the craft is entirely buried. Inside this Death Egg, a multitude of Badniks known as the "Scrapniks" can be found. Despite the deterioration though, the ship still stores many of Eggman's original creations, such as multiple Prison Eggs and the original Egg Carrier, also heavily damaged.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

The old Death Egg has a climate function, which allows it to change the climate at will. However, it does not work properly, presumably due to the ship being in ruins, despite E-117 Sigma's efforts to repair it.[1]

History[]

Past[]

At least one version of the Death Egg has existed in the past. Once, Dr. Eggman used the Death Egg for an evil plot which Sonic stopped.[2]

The earliest known Death Egg model was in particular raided by Sonic and Tails, who unknowingly made it fall on a massive island in the middle of the ocean. Following this, a group of abandoned Eggman robots took refuge within the station, creating their own civilization as the "Scrapniks", and called their new home "Scrapnik Island". This Death Egg's climate disruptor had begun to malfunction several times. E-117 Sigma, a member of the Scrapniks, tried several times to fix it, but was not able to repair it fully. Furthermore, the attempts it made to decommission the item ended in failure.[1]

Scrapnik Island[]

The climate disruptor caused a large storm, which incidentally damaged the nearby Tornado, Sonic and Tails' plane, and made them crash onto the island. Sonic injured his ankle and fell unconscious, which led the Scrapniks to offering their help to Tails. They dragged the hedgehog inside the station and supplied him with a metallic brace. Following this, Sonic was placed under observation.[1]

When Sonic had woken up and looked for Tails, a group of Scrapniks led by Mecha Sonic followed him. However, due to Sonic thinking that they were hostile, he fled from them. Sonic soon meets up with Tails and Sigma and is informed that the Scrapniks are actually friendly. Sigma apologized for the confusion and for the crashing of their plane. It showed Sonic and Tails around the island. Mecha Sonic's systems were nearly forcibly taken over and Mecha Knuckles observed the group.[1]
