The Death Egg is an object that appears in Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. It was a massive airborne satellite created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Capable of laying waste to much of Planet Mobius, the Death Egg was Robotnik's ultimate weapon.[1] Although it was successfully made airborne, the Death Egg rendered inoperable by Sonic the Hedgehog. Some time later, it was destroyed when it fell from orbit.

History

When Dr. Robotnik returned from his first defeat, he build the Death Egg to enslave Mobius. Fighting his way through legions of Badniks, Sonic the Hedgehog made it to the Death Egg where he faced Mecha Sonic and later Robotnik in his deadly battle armour. After Sonic defeated Robotnik, the heavily damaged Death Egg was abandoned, although people thought it was destroyed entirely.[1][2][3]

Death Egg crash

The Death Egg falls into the ocean, from Sonic the Comic #6. Art by Ferran Rodriguez.

Some time later, the Death Egg's orbit began to degrade and the Kintobor Computer projected that it would crash in the Emerald Hill Zone. Using the Egg Jet, Sonic and Tails returned to the space station, hoping to stop it before impact. Onboard, they encountered a heavily damaged (but still functional) Mecha Sonic, which Sonic destroyed by kicking off its head, though it delayed them long enough for the Death Egg to begin plummeting towards Mobius. However, Sonic was able to steer the Death Egg into crashing in the ocean, and the two escaped in an escape pod.[3]
