Del is a character that appears in the Sonic the Comic series published by Fleetway Editions. A illusion of an anthropomorphic animal made by Dr. Ivo Robotnik, his purpose was to discourage Sonic the Hedgehog from the freedom fighting cause.
Del shares the same appearance as Gaz, except Del's ears are longer. Like the other residents of 2997, Del was purple (apart from his hands) and wore a grey uniform emblazoned with a green and black 'thumbs down' symbol.
Created as a part of an illusion of a bleak Mobius in the year 2997, Del and his partner Gaz encountered Sonic the Hedgehog when he was put inside their world. After a brief introduction, Del explained Sonic's location to him. The duo attempted to persuade Sonic to give up his fight against Dr. Robotnik, using the events around him as proof that he would never win. However, as Sonic realized these events were being implanted in his head by a Badnik, Del's existence was ended once Sonic broke the illusion.
As per his design, Del did not recognize Sonic, but was well-versed in his reality's stories about him and his defeat one thousand years ago. Furthermore, Del was utterly content, even happy, with the abuse and punishment he got from hostile Badniks, all for the purpose of breaking Sonic's resolve.
