Doctor Cadberry (アツミ博士 Atsumi Hakase?, lit. "Professor Atsumi") is a character that appears in the Sonic X anime series. He is a human from Yamato University and an archaeological geophysicist[1] who assisted Sonic during the Murasia incident.

Apperance[]

Dr. Cadberry is an adult human with a tan complexion, short grayish brown hair, and gray eyes. For attire, he wears a maroon jacket and trousers. Underneath his jacket, he also wears a black shirt.

History[]

Anime[]

Past[]

Dr. Cadberry was studying Murasia - an ancient continent that disappeared a long time ago. He examined its history, and combined it with the geological structure of the world in hopes of finding it. His theory regarding Murasia, however, was not supported by other researchers, and Cadberry was undervalued for many years. In addition to research, he also worked at the Yamato University. One of his students was Mr. Tanaka.[3]

Homebound Saga[]

Eventually, Knuckles provided Cadberry with the oldest known map of the world, allowing Cadberry to finally prove his theory about Murasia. However, Decoe and Bocoe, disguised as mummies, quickly stole the map from the university. Cadberry tried to catch the robots, but failed. With the alarm not working either, Decoe and Bocoe escaped with the map. The next day, Cadberry and Knuckles came to the Thorndyke Mansion, where the doctor met his ex-student, Mr. Tanaka. Cadberry met with Chuck Thorndyke and Sonic, whom he told about the theft of the map by Dr. Eggman's lackeys. He warned the heroes that Eggman might sought to destroy the navel of the world that was under Murasia. This would lead to the eruption of all volcanoes in the world. With Chuck's aid, Cadberry located the current location of Murasia. Then, together with Sonic and his friends, he sailed towards the island. When they got there, the Egg Battleship attacked them. There, Eggman revealed his plans to set off a chain reaction of volcanic eruptions around the world from Murasia and then built the Eggman Empire upon the world's ruins, disturbing Cadberry. Eventually, the Egg Battleship was destroyed, but Eggman and his robots fled to Murasia.[3]

Pursuing Eggman to the island which held the entrance to the underground caves of Murasia, Cadberry and Chuck set up base on the island in order to investigate the seismic vibrations in the underground. Cadberry also received a box from Tanaka that was made of Ermurasium - a material used by the former inhabitants of Murasia. As Sonic and his friends descended underground and into Murasia in their pursuit of Eggman, Cadberry would follow them through a video link. During Sonic and his friends journey however, Cadberry detected that an underground volcano was about to erupt. As such, Cadberry told Sonic and co. to forget about Eggman and evacuate as soon as they could. By the time the volcano erupted, Cadberry and everyone else had made it back to their ship and sailed off. Although Murasia had been destroyed by the volcano, Cadberry was pleased that his theory about Murasia proved to be true. He also took a gemstone that Rouge had found underground, which Cadberry recognized as a relic from the Murasians, and thanked Rouge for the archaeological find.[2]

Personality[]

Dr. Cadberry is a devoted researcher in the field of geology and the history of Murasia. For most of his life, he tried to prove his theory about Murasia. He is likewise calm and does not panic or lose his cool in moments of action and/or tension. He often shares his insights with others and is always ready to voice one of his theories in times where others would feel endangered.

Powers and skills[]

Dr. Cadberry is perfectly familiar with the history of Murasia. He is also an educated geophysicist.[2][3]
