The Double Mid-Air Glide (2段滑空飛行 2-dan Kakkuu Hikou?)[1] is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a technique used by Knuckles the Echidna where he gains extra height while gliding, and a variation of Mid-Air Glide.

Description[]

Knuckles doubleglide

When performing the Double Mid-Air Glide, Knuckles does a hop in midair before starting to trap air underneath his dreadlocks and gliding forward at a steady pace. While gliding, Knuckles also holds one of his arms outstretched in front of him, allowing him to attack enemies in his path.

In gameplay, the Double Mid-Air Glide can only be used when Knuckles has Miles "Tails" Prower as his partner. When used, this move allows Knuckles to do an extra leap in midair to gain more altitude and then both slow down the rate of his descent and move significant horizontal distances while descending. This method has much greater range than what he can reach with a normal jump or fall. However, he cannot move upwards. When using the Double Mid-Air Glide, Knuckles will continue to glide until he latches onto a wall, lands safely on solid ground, or stops on purpose. Should Knuckles stop using the Double Mid-Air Glide while in the air (by ceasing the actions activating the Double Mid-Air Glide), Knuckles will drop normally through the air. In addition, thanks to Knuckles holding his fist outstretched, the Double Mid-Air Glide will allow him to damage any unprotected enemy his fist comes in contact with.

To perform the Double Mid-Air Glide in gameplay, the player has to press GameboyA during a jump.[1] By holding GameboyA after initiating the move, Knuckles will eventually transition into the Mid-Air Glide.
