"Double Trouble" is the fourteenth episode of the Sonic Prime television series, and the sixth episode of season two. It premiered on Netflix on July 13, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Sonic meets his match in Chaos Sonic, a robot version of himself designed to never fail. Meanwhile, the Chaos Council decides to expand their empire.

Plot[]
The episode starts with Chaos Sonic coming out and attacking the real Sonic. Chaos Sonic then introduced himself whilst teasing Sonic. While Knucks think that Nine set them up in another trap, Sonic disagreed.
Then, there's a flashback to the time before Green Hill was transformed into New Yoke City. While that was happening, the Chaos Council was having a warm drink. Mr. Dr. Eggman was declaring himself as leader of the city, however the rest of the Council disagree thinking they can rule a city better. As they were arguing, Dr. Babble decided to divide the city into five sectors one for each of them, which they all agreed with it.
Then, it switches back to the present day, where Sonic was fighting his robot counterpart while Rebel Rouge and Knucks were fending off against some Eggforcers. Chaos Sonic then threw Sonic towards and city and Sonic landed inside a dumpster and Chaos Sonic told him his merchandising plan. Rebel told Knucks to help Sonic while she dealt with the Eggforcers. As Chaos Sonic kept talking, Knucks attacked him from above. As Knucks was down, Sonic thinks he can drain his battery with a race.
As the Chaos Council watched, they thanked Nine for the idea, leaving him guilty. After that, the Chaos Council decided what to do with the three Shards. Mr. Dr. Eggman thought of smokestacks, Dr. Deep thought of museums, and Dr. Don’t thought of theme parks. As they argued, Dr. Done-It told them that staying local was never part of the plan. However, Mr. Dr. Eggman told them with that much Shard Energy at their disposal, they don’t have to conquer the Shatterspaces, but transform them. So they decided universal domination at the comfort of their own home, however, Nine warned them that they will disrupt the Shatterverse, but they ignored him.
Meanwhile, Sonic and Chaos Sonic were racing. And as they both fought off, Sonic decided to trick Chaos Sonic into getting hit by a bus and headed back to the Yoke. As Sonic head straight for the Yoke, Dread saw him and thinks that he can him to the blue Shard. As the doctors began Operation: Chaos Terraformation, Deep and Babble opened up portals to both No Place and the Boscage Maze, causing buildings to emerge. Meanwhile, Sonic, Rebels and Knucks finished off the remaining Eggforcers and after seeing some floating portals, they quickly went inside. However, Chaos Sonic recovered from being hit by a bus and caught up to Sonic.
Mr. Dr. Eggman then discovered that there were two more Shards that haven’t been discovered, in both The Grim and Ghost Hill, which means two more Shatterspaces to conquer, and, to them, it meant that each member of the Chaos Council could have a Shatterspace all to themselves. While Chaos Sonic defeated Rebel and Knucks and Sonic tried to fend him off, Chaos Sonic was then hit by a coconut and Dread showed up and attacked him. Sonic was surprised to see he was alive and Dread told Sonic that he owed him for saving him earlier, but this was a temporary alliance for the blue Shard. Sonic, Rebel and the two Knuckles Shatter Variants fought the robot off and ended off with both Knucks and Dread punching it at once. After that, Dread was surprised to see that Knucks looks like him. Then everyone, including Shadow, felt/saw New Yoke City/the Shatterverse shaking and Mr. Dr. Eggman realized that there was a ripple in time and space, not realizing that they had started the decay of the Shatterverse. After realizing that the Council is going too far, Nine released himself from the cuffs and defeated the Eggforcers. Nine then saw Sonic fighting off Chaos Sonic and communicated with him that he had an idea.
Sonic then attempted to lure Chaos Sonic to him as the robot released himself from Rebel and the two Knuckles. As Chaos Sonic goes after Sonic, Knucks began to think that Sonic likes traps, which Dread agreed with as well, and Rebel thought that the moment she was in right now was "too weird". As Chaos Sonic chased after Sonic, Nine gave Sonic directions to the lab and blasted a beam of Shard Energy at the robot, breaking and destroying him completely. Sonic then hugged Nine, only to remember that he didn't like hugs. He then comforted Nine, who blamed himself for almost dooming Sonic, only for Sonic to say that he saved him, and that’s what friends are for, and then asked how they were gonna get the Shards outta here; then Nine had an idea upon seeing some boxes.
Dr. Babble, in his mech suit, found the remains of Chaos Sonic and showed it to the Council. Nine then constructed a makeshift Shard Case that can contain the energy of all three Shards. As the plan was going in motion, the Council showed up.

Trivia[]
- The way how Chaos Sonic mocks Sonic by repeating what he says could be a reference to Sonic the Abridgehog, a fan parody of Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie. In the fan parody, during their fight, Hyper Metal Sonic does the same thing to Sonic.
- When Sonic meets Chaos Sonic, he is surprised at the sight of a robot similar to him, saying "Is that a... knockoff me?" despite having fought Metal Sonic and other robotic replicas of himself before several times before meeting Chaos Sonic.
- When Knuckles the Dread and Renegade Knucks meet for the first time, they point at each other due to how similar they look. This scene is similar to a scene from the 1967–1970 Spider-Man TV series episode "Double Identity", in which the villain Charles Cameo dresses up like Spider-Man to impersonate him; the episode's scene has since become an Internet meme, which would also be referenced in the Spider-Verse movies.
