Being based off of a dragonfly, the Dragonfly badniks are long, robotic dragonflies colored mostly blue. Each Dragonfly has a pair of wings, in which it uses to fly. Dragonfly enemies also have a long tail that is both saggy and spiky.
Dragonfly badniks appears in Mushroom Hill Zone, where each one of the badniks will fly up and down, not stopping until the player, who controls either Sonic the Hedgehog or Knuckles the Echidna, interrupts its flying. These badniks are also very tricky to avoid, as besides the head model of the badnik, any other model part of the badnik will injure the player. Only a Spin Jump or a Glide attacks will destroy the badniks.
Sonic & Knuckles
Dragonfly badniks first appeared in Sonic & Knuckles, where they appear in Mushroom Hill Zone. The badniks can block a pathaway for the player, making things difficult if the player is unaware how to defeat the badnik.
After a long hiatus from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series, Dragonfly badniks reappear in the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, where the badniks appear at Mushroom Hill Zone. The attack patterns and appearance of the Dragonfly badniks remain the same as before, only the Dragonfly enemies are gifted a redesign, having a design similar to many of the badniks that reappeared in either Sonic Colors or Sonic Generations.
Sonic Lost World
Dragonfly enemies return in Sonic Lost World, where they appear in Silent Forest. During the game, it turns out that badniks, including Dragonflies, got hijacked by the Deadly Six. They are seen to have similar attack pattern as floating in one place and moving up and down. Dragonfly badniks are seen to have alternated its appearance as having compound eyes instead of cartoony black and white eyes.
Dragonfly badniks are not be confused with another, newer enemies, which are seen earlier in the Zone One of Silent Forest. These ones are slightly similar to Dragonfly badniks, but instead these enemies are much slimmer and now fly horizontally, as having an orange model body and purple eyes. These enemies fire small laser lines from their bottom while flying forward.
