Dynamite[1] (ダイナマイト[2] Dainamaito?), also known as the Dynamite Pack,[3] is an obstacle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are bomb packs that are used for demolition.

Description[]

The Dynamites are red-colored explosive packs with ignition strips and yellow and black hazard stripes on the top and bottom parts.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Adventure 2[]

In Sonic Adventure 2, and its enhanced port Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Dynamites are only featured in the Lock-On Shooting stages for Miles "Tails" Prower and Dr. Eggman. Unlike bombs, the Dynamite packs are mostly useful. Usually in shooting mech stages, there are dynamite packs placed on walls, hidden pathways, or large pillars. When the player targets and shoots them with the Egg Walker or Cyclone, they will blow pillars down to help the player cross bridges and hatches or blow away walls. However, it may also open paths to bottomless pits.

The variant of the Dynamite Pack.

In the stages onboard the Space Colony ARK there are special crystallized Dynamites with Project Shadow's symbol on them. They are really dangerous, as detonating them will cause a large explosion like those caused by regular Dynamites. However, these variants can be used against enemies and in the boss battle for Eggman and Tails, which can cause massive damage to anyone unfortunate enough to be caught in its blast radius. After being destroyed, they will regenerate from an acid-like area.

Other game appearances[]

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games[]

In the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Dynamites[1] are featured as obstacles during the Dream Fencing event with slightly altered appearance. They are buried under the battleground. When passing over a Dynamite, it pops out the ground and start igniting for five seconds before exploding. Getting into contact with this explosion will make the character lose a small amount of health.
