Template:Item The Egg Vineyard was one of Doctor Eggman's inventions. Contained in the Egg Fleet, the Egg Vineyard was a large room containing the Egg Grapes, large spherical pods resembling grapes on stalks, which are used as prison containers for the captured people of Knothole. The Chamber is able to convert the living beings trapped in the Egg Grapes into power for Eggman's operations.
Description
The Egg Grapes have at one time held: Constable Remington, Dark Legion warrior Xenin, the Fire Ant Council, numerous other citizens of Angel Island and member of the Dark Legion, Mammoth Mogul, Ixis Naugus the Destructix, and the Arachne.
Essentially, the Egg Grapes are intended to draw energy from those contained within them to power Robotnik's operations. In order to supply him, he equipped his Overlander minion Hunter with a Chaos Spear weapon that teleported victims to the Egg Vineyard. The original Egg Vineyard was badly damaged when Ixis Naugus was freed from the Zone of Silence with the power of the Sword of Acorns. As a result, all of the prisoners taken by Hunter were seemingly vaporized. After overcoming them with the Egg Fleet, Robotnik transported Mogul, Naugus, and their minions to a new chamber. A.D.A.M. later released Mogul and Naugus, while the Destructix were freed by Dr. Finitevus, Scourge the Hedgehog, and Rouge the Bat. The Arachne, apparently either drained of life force or subjected to some flaw in the Egg Grapes, died.
Sonic and friends saved the people of Knothole from the Egg Grapes in issue 176 of Sonic the Hedgehog. When a brain-washed Knuckles the Echidna (as Enerjak) was attacked by Dr. Eggman, the scientist trapped Enerjak in a special Egg Vineyard to take his power. Enerjak, however, over-powered the Egg Vineyard and destroyed the Egg Fleet single handedly.
