The Egg Snake[1] (エッグ スネーク[2] Eggu Sunēku?) is a vehicle in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is controlled by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

As the name implies, Egg Snake appears to be based off of a snake or an anaconda. An Egg Mobile is located in the green area on the machine. The green area is mostly green with black and yellow stripes, gray spikes below, and yellow headlights. The other gray spheres are gray with some red and black.

Battle[]

The Egg Snake is the boss of Cosmic Angel Zone and is the sixth boss overall in Sonic Advance. It is fought by Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy.

Boss guide[]

The battle takes place on the Egg Snake's mechanical chain serving as a grounded platform although it dips down when the player moves along it. Eggman's cockpit will constantly move along the chain from one end to the other back and forth while the cockpit is upside down on the other side of the chain. Between intervals, Eggman will fire three damaging energy shots towards the player. The player will need to constantly jump over the cockpit to avoid getting damaged.

To attack the boss, the player must flip Eggman's cockpit so that it is on the same side of the chain which is accomplished by the player simply jumping and landing near the moving cockpit. Then they must quickly attack the exposed cockpit with a Spin Jump though when playing as Amy, she will have to use the Spinning Hammer Attack. If the player takes too long to hit the cockpit, it will revert back to its default position and the player will have to flip it again. Attacking the cockpit will then prompt Eggman to flip itself to its default position. If the player loses rings from taking damage, the rings won't bounce and instead, they will fall right through the chain so that they are irretrievable. After hitting Eggman's cockpit enough times, Eggman's cockpit will slide very quickly across the chain for a brief period, making it potentially difficult for the player to dodge the cockpit.

After hitting the cockpit six (on Easy) or eight times (Normal), the cockpit explodes and the mechanical chain disappears, causing the player's character to fall down to a flat ground. Unlike the previous bosses, there is no Capsule for the player to break in order to finish the act; instead the player will automatically move to the right to follow the retreating Eggman, and the score tally occurs after the character has moved off-screen.
