The Enerbeam Swing is a recurring gimmick in the Sonic Boom video games. It is a floating device used for swinging on with the Enerbeams.
Description
The Enerbeam Swing is a box-shaped machine with a rocket engine on each side and an orb in the middle. Their color schemes differ between games. They are also always floating over wide gabs or obstacle-ridden paths.
In gameplay, the Enerbeam Swings are used to reach new areas with the Enerbeam by helping the player cross gabs. By using the Enerbeam on an Enerbeam Swing, the playable character will latch onto it and hang from it by the Enerbeam, allowing the player to swing from the starting point to another area. Sometimes, there are as well rows of Enerbeam Swings which the player can latch onto one by one in succession to cross wider gabs.
Game appearances
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal
In Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the Enerbeam Swings are mostly blue and grey while their orb is purple. To latch onto an Enerbeam Swing in gameplay, the player has to press when near one.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice
In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the Enerbeam Swings are orange and light blue with a pink-orange orb. Otherwise, they are identical to how they looked in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. Like in the previous game, the player has to press when near an Enerbeam Swing to latch onto it during gameplay.
Trivia
- The Enerbeam Swings work much like the Zip Targets in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.
