The Eusebes Shrine, also called the Eusebes Temple, is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is an ancient shrine located in the South Ocean that is speculated to be a Gaia Temple. Coral the Betta, Pearly the Manta Ray, the protector Razor the Shark, his Chao Crusher, and the sacred Chao Aquarius live on the island that the Eusebes Shrine is located on.

Description[]

The Eusebes Shrine is located in an underground cave above sea level with waterfalls falling down from the roof. The shrine itself is colored peach and is very ancient. According to Coral the Betta, the shrine was not built by the underwater natives, meaning it could have originally been on the surface but fell years ago. Also, according to Sonic, it is much larger on the inside than it appears on the outside.

History[]

For generations, the sacred Chao Aquarius has been reincarnated in the Eusebes Shrine. In the present, Coral the Betta and Aquarius had completed the daily rites in the Eusebes Shrine when a mysterious spirit told Coral to aid some coming heroes to save Sonic's World.[1]

A short while afterwards, the Knothole Freedom FightersSonic the Hedgehog, Amy Rose and Rotor the Walrus–came to the Eusebes Shrine with the aid of Coral and Razor, thinking it was a Gaia Temple that could help with the Shattered World Crisis. They got to the shrine in time to see Aquarius' rebirth cycle, where Coral thought the spirits had sent the Freedom Fighters, but when they told her otherwise, they had to put the discussion on hold. The next day, Rotor and Sonic were allowed to investigate the shrine, but they could not determine if it was a Gaia Temple. No sooner, the Meropis City Guard ambushed the heroes, with Striker asking why they had trespassed sacred grounds.[2]
