The Fastest (ファスティスト,Fasutisuto?) is a recurring Board type Extreme Gear in the Sonic Riders series. In two out of three of the Sonic Riders games' appearances, it is amongst the fastest Extreme Gear in its respective games.
The Fastest first appeared in Sonic Riders. According to its profile, it has the highest top speed. It can be unlocked in the game by first collecting the Fastest Repair Manual in Mission 5 for Sega Carnival and the broken Fastest gear by completing Mission 5 for Metal City in Mission Mode and then collecting ten green junk, forty yellow junk, ten red junk, twenty blue junk and five purple junk to repair it.
The Fastest's design in Sonic Riders is identical to that of the Faster in the same game, but with a different color scheme. As such, the Fastest is much more slender than the average board. It is primarily blue, with a grey rectangle on the middle of its surface, and has black, curved highlights running across its surface, from the front to each corner of the rear. It also has yellow recesses on its midsection, extending into the white rectangle on its surface and down alongside its lower black highlights.
Abilities and traits
As a Board-type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders, the Fastest is well-balanced in its attributes with an average rate of fuel-consumption and is suited for general riding.
As its name implies, the Fastest has the highest top speed in Sonic Riders and the speed of its Air Boosts is unusually high as well. However, because of its incredibly low maneuver abilities and acceleration, it loses speed when trying to turn and has a hard time recovering from deceleration without boosting.
The Fastest reappeared later in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. According to its profile, it is the ultimate speed Extreme Gear, though at the cost of lacking in other skills and stands without rivals, if kept at top speed. It can be purchased at the shop for 1,900 Rings.
In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Faster is given a slight redesign. Like in Sonic Riders, the Fastest's design in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is identical to the Faster in the same game, but with a different color scheme. As such, the Fastest is made less slender and more thick and bulky in structure, making it resemble a rocket in shape. It is primarily colored palatinate blue, with black highlights on the front and on each side of the rear, similar to the ones in Sonic Riders. It also has a thin black and yellow line running across the rear and a dark grey rectangular area outlined with black on the top surface. It also has two circular dark grey-colored foot panels on the top.
Abilities and traits
As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, the Fastest is well-balanced in its attributes and is suited for general riding.
The Fastest's stats in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is very similar to the ones in Sonic Riders, possessing a maximum Limit stat, but greatly lacks in other stats, making it harder to control. Aside from this, the Fastest possesses no unique abilities of its own.
The Fastest made another reappearance in Sonic Free Riders. According to its profile, the Fastest is in this game primarily tuned for maximum speed above all else and if it is kept at top speed, nothing can match it. It can be purchased from the shop for a thousand Rings. In Sonic Free Riders, the Fastest is given another new design. In this game, the Fastest returned to having a more slender and thinner board-like form, but not as much as it had in Sonic Riders. It is mostly colored palatinate blue, with grey metal accents on the midsection and two grey circular pads on the top surface. It also has black and yellow highlights and markings following the borders of the circular pads.
Abilities and traits
As a Board type Extreme Gear in Sonic Free Riders, the Fastest is, like in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, well-balanced in its attributes and is suited for general riding.
Just like in the two previous title, the Fastest's Limit stat is at maximum for the highest top speed, while its other stats are at the lowest minimum, once again making the Fastest hard to control. Any Air earned from performing tricks and skill actions (Grind, Air-Ride and Power) is halved. It can be equipped with two Gear Parts.
In Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, despite of the name, the Fastest is not the Gear that has the highest potential top speed.
