— Battle Lord Kukku XV, Sonic Universe #86

Battle Lord Kukku XV[1] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is a mobian bird and the Egg Boss of the Battle Bird Armada, an Egg Army unit which patrols the skies.

Appearance[]

The Battle Lord is a mobian mustard yellow bird. A tall avian, he is dressed in a red coat (similar to Eggman's though far less flamboyant) and dark green pants with high-heeled shoes and tail feathers of the same color, light orange/brown feathers and white gauntlets. He also has a mouth full of very crooked teeth and a large beak upon which rests a pair of small glasses also similar to Dr. Eggman's and a large, black hat with his Armada's insignia on the front.

History[]

Past[]

Kukku is the fifteenth son of the Kukku Line which stem back to the fall of Babylon. Upon gaining control of the Battle Bird Armada, he sought to dominate the skies.[2] He also appears to have a history with the Babylon Rogues whom he has shown a strong disdain towards.[2]

At one point, the Battle Lord led the Battle Bird Armada in an invasion of Cocoa Island, but their aspirations were thwarted by the efforts of Miles "Tails" Prower. The young fox fought his way through the Armada's forces before engaging the leader of the Armada in fierce battle. Despite the Battle Lord's prowess, he was defeated in battle and his fortress fell into the sea.[3]

Shattered World Crisis[]

Act Two[]

Note: From the readers point of view, this picks up from where the Battle Lord's original timeline ended.

During the Shattered World Crisis, the Battle Lord reluctantly joined his fellow Egg Bosses in a group effort to help Eggman drive out the Naugus twins from Eggman Land. He was partnered with Abyss the Squid to shut down the backup generator, but both were ambushed by Dark Gaia Creatures.[1][2] The Battle Lord managed to blow up the generator with his bombs, and soon aided Eggman during his confrontation with the Naugus Twins.[4][5]

Soon after, the Battle Lord was contacted by Dr. Eggman, and was assigned to take down the Freedom Fighters' headquarters and main means of transportation- the Sky Patrol.[6] He ordered his troops to begin their assault while the Freedom Fighters struggled with their systems and sent Speedy to find and kidnap Chip, the Light Gaia. After a successful attack, the Battle Lord ordered for the Sky Patrol's engines to be blown up so that it could plummet into the world's crust.[7]

Personality[]

The Battle Lord takes great pride in his lineage and empire. He is also very arrogant, claiming that he is "perfection". He also dislikes working for Eggman, insulting him behind his back and planning to betray him when the time is right.

Powers and abilities[]

KUKKU BOMBS

Kukku summoning bombs, from Sonic Universe #85.

The Battle Lord is a powerful physical fighter, capable of constricting and crushing a Nightmare with one hand.[2] Like Bean the Dynamite, he can also summon bombs powerful enough to create destructive explosions, though unlike Bean, the Battle Lord can create several bombs at once.[4]
