— Description, Sonic Blast[1]

Blue Marine Zone (ブルーマリン[2] Burū Marin?, lit. "Blue Marine") is the fourth and penultimate Zone of Sonic Blast, which is represented by the color blue and its environment.

Description[]

It is an aquatic place that features underwater ruins.

Story[]

Sonic and his partner, Knuckles had arrived in Blue Marine Zone, where they continued their ongoing quest to stop the evil Robotnik from getting his hands on the shards of the Chaos Emerald. Later on, the duo find themselves under attack by the mad doc, but as always, Sonic and Knuckles defeat him once more, forcing Robotnik to retreat. Afterwards, the two heroes set off for the enemy's stronghold.

Gameplay[]

Mostly following the same rules as other water-based Zones, the player must inhale air bubbles to prevent from drowning while underwater, but if there are none nearby, then Sonic/Knuckles can jump into a high-speed warp tube for the same effect. There are also invisible water currents in this Zone which should be avoided, as they will pull the character to different areas.

Boss[]

Main article: Blue Marine Zone boss

At the end of Act 3, Dr. Robotnik will show up in an egg-shaped submarine. This battle is fought entirely underwater. This boss attacks by firing harpoons aimed at the player from an underside-mounted launcher.

If the harpoons strike the ground, they produce a single air bubble - this is the only form of oxygen available during the fight, so the player must be sure to take advantage of it. The submarine's cockpit is its weak point, which must be hit eight times to destroy it.
