The Cyclone[1] (サイクロン[2] Saikuron?) is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a red sports car that Sonic the Hedgehog used during his early racing competitions.
Description[]
The Cyclone is a sleek sports car with a red and white paint job that reflects Sonic's own shoes. The Cyclone is not very large, its size being more reminiscent of a go-kart than an actual car. The car's design seems to have been inspired by a first generation Dodge Viper.

Sonic Drift[]
The Cyclone first appeared in Sonic Drift as Sonic's personal racing car, which he uses during races.
In gameplay, the Cyclone has good acceleration and top speed, but poor control. As a result of its poor control, it cannot drive through corners as easily as the other cars in the game. As its special ability, the Cyclone can perform the "Dash",[2] which has the same effect as the High Speed power-up. Using this ability however, costs two Rings.

Sonic Drift 2[]
In Sonic Drift 2, the Cyclone returned as Sonic the Hedgehog's personal race car that he uses in the game's racing competitions.
In gameplay, the Cyclone has high acceleration and top speed, but low handling. Like before, the Cyclone's low handling means that the player will have a tough time get through tight corners. Also, like in Sonic Drift, the Cyclone's special ability allows Sonic to use a "Dash"[1] that lets him perform a simple, yet quick, Dash, which has the same effect as the Dash power-up. Like before, using this ability costs two Rings.

In Sonic Rivals, the Cyclone made an appearance on a collectible card in the game.
Sonic Generations[]
In the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, the Cyclone makes a small cameo appearance on a bonus artwork in the Collection Room.
Other game appearances[]
Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld[]
In Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld, the Cyclone, along with other three characters' vehicles from Sonic Drift, are used in the "Car Race" minigame. In the Car Race, the Cyclone is used by Sonic to race around a circular track in a one-lap kart race against the other characters.
Sonic Racing[]
In Sonic Racing, the Cyclone appears as Classic Sonic's racing vehicle in the game.
Sonic Speed Simulator[]
In Sonic Speed Simulator, a smaller, more compact version of the Cyclone appears as one of the unlockable Extreme Gear in the game. It could be unlocked during the Sonic's 32nd Anniversary Event.
Trivia[]
- There are two artworks in the PC program Sonic the Hedgehog The Screen Saver , which presents Sonic with a red (and yellow) sports car similar to the Cyclone. The two cars, however, are not identical.
