The Egg Emperor's cockpit, from Sonic the Hedgehog #50.

The Egg Emperor is a large and humanoid old gold-colored robot with a round torso. Its undercarriage is dark green with red and old gold-colored bolts, and its neck collar is green. It also has a blue orb in its chest and a white rim that separates its lower and upper torso. Its right shoulder is round with red and white spikes, and its right arm consists of a long old gold lance with a gray tip. In its left hand it carries a tall red shield with a circular gray and red center, a white outline, and old-gold edges. Its thighs are gray and thin while its lower legs are armored with red outlines around its ankles. Its feet on the other hand are dark green with old gold and gray soles, and its kneecaps have spikes. Its head also has sharp teeth and red spikes for a mustache. Lastly, it has green eyes and a fin on its forehead.

Features and abilities[]

In addition to being capable of flight, the Egg Emperor is equipped with a deadly spear that can pierce thick metal for offense and a thick shield for defense that is durable enough to block powerful laser shots.[1][2] It is also able to fire missiles from its back.[2]

The Egg Emperor also possesses an offline mode, effectively isolating it from any override signal meant to control it.[3]

History[]

Past[]

EggEmperorIDW

Sonic fighting the Egg Emperor, from Sonic the Hedgehog #1.

In the recent past, the Egg Emperor was used by Neo Metal Sonic (who was impersonating Dr. Eggman) to battle Sonic the Hedgehog and his team onboard the Final Fortress. In the end, the heroes were able to defeat the mech with the aid of Power Cores.[1][2][4]

Imposter Syndrome[]

When Dr. Starline took control of Eggperial City and Dr. Eggman's Badniks, Dr. Eggman fled before he could be captured via his personal chute to the Memorial Garage. Once there, he looked at some of his old mechs, which included the Egg Emperor, while he commented about how he thought he would have had the time to refurbish all of them. Regardless, Eggman armed himself with the Egg Emperor and activated its offline mode to keep Starline from taking control of it.[3]

Battle for the Empire[]

EMPERORvROBO

The Egg Emperor fighting the Super Eggrobo, from Sonic the Hedgehog #50.

Armed with the Egg Emperor, Dr. Eggman used this mech to sneak up and attack Dr. Starline in his headquarters. There, Dr. Starline counter-attacked with his Tricore, with which he was able to make a few dents in the Egg Emperor's armor, before going into hiding. As Eggman then searched for Starline in the Egg Emperor, Dr. Starline appeared out of the ground, equipped with the Super Eggrobo, and proceeds to fight his former idol mech to mech. Despite having the older model, Eggman still had the upper hand thanks to his superior mech-piloting skills. As the battle between the Egg Emperor and Super Eggrobo took them underground, Eggman uses his mech's spear to cut off the Super Eggrobo's right arm and stab it in the chest, critically damaging it and rendering it useless. In response, Dr. Starline ejected himself from the Super Eggrobo and proceeds to destroy the Egg Emperor using his Tricore Blast. However, as Eggman emerged from the debris of the Egg Emperor, he announced that it was part of his strategy; for he had deliberately chosen the Egg Emperor in order to force Starline to use up the power of his Tricore, which he knew he would do to prove his point.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Due to the Egg Emperor being in the Memorial Garage, Dr. Eggman claiming that he thought he would have had more time to refurbish his mechs, and Orbot explaining to Dr. Starline that the Display Museum had yet to be finished as a follow up to saying that Dr. Eggman fled to the Memorial Garage, it can be assumed that the Egg Emperor and/or other mechs in the Memorial Garage would have most likely been moved to the Display Museum had said mechs been refurbished and/or had the Display Museum been finished.
