A Boar type robot newly developed by Dr. Eggman based on his research results from Episode I. They have been created with rich color variation, but Sonic should be extra careful of the formidable red ones that come charging towards him.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II[1]

The Fullboar[1] (ウリボ[2] Uribo?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, boar-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman that were developed by the doctor based on his research results from his uprising against Sonic.[1]

Appearance[]

Fullboars are warthog-based Badniks. In terms of design, they are almost hemispheric in shape, with a pig snout, two black eyes, and two gray tusks on the front. They also possess triangular ears, a black stripe of metal along the edge of their faces, and a cyan mohawk. They are also outfitted with four black wheels for easy movement on land, and possess an exhaust pipe on their rears.

Fullboars come in three different color variations. One is primarily red with a yellow face, another is primarily yellow with an orange face, and the third is white with the same face as the yellow one.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, the Fullboars appear as enemies. They can be found in Sylvania Castle Zone, White Park Zone and Sky Fortress Zone Acts 2 and 3.

In gameplay, the Fullboars come in three varieties: a yellow model, a red model, and a white model. The yellow variation can be found exclusively in Sylvania Castle Zone, while the red variation can be found in both Sylvania Castle Zone and Sky Fortress Zone, and the white variation in the White Park Zone. Yellow and white Fullboars simply move back and forth, while red Fullboars will charge at the playable character once they spot them. Regardless of their color, this Badnik is easily destroyed with a Spin Attack or Homing Attack. Also, upon their destruction, they will reward the player 100 points and release an Animal.

Personality[]

While built to serve as work drones, Fullboars possess a degree of sentience and personality traits. These traits include showing fear and stress moments before being destroyed.[3]

Powers and abilities[]

Fullboars do not possess any special abilities. However, some of them are capable of making fast charges.

A Fullboar, from Sonic the Hedgehog #50.

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, a singular Fullboar model and a horde of other assorted Badniks would be used by Dr. Starline to test Surge the Tenrec during one of her tests at Starline Base Sigma.[4]

While in Eggperial City, Belle the Tinkerer found and modified an oddly friendly Fullboar to not attack Sonic or Tails. With Belle riding it like a mount, the Fullboar took Belle to Sonic and Tails, just before they were all surrounded by an army of Badniks called upon by Dr. Eggman.[5]

Later on, a group of Fullboars aided their fellow Badniks in stopping Sonic and his friends from destroying Eggperial City. Despite their efforts though, the Fullboars were easily destroyed by the heroes.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Fullboar is similar to Skweel from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series, as both are swines and run on wheels. Its also possible that the former may have been an inspiration for the latter.
  • The Fullboar's Japanese name, "Uribo," is derived from uribou, meaning "wild boar piglet."
