The Gaikoko[1] (ガイココ[2]?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, skull-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.
Appearance[]
The Gaikokos are based on skulls. They have a pair of black eyes with orange sclera, are colored blue, and can open up their jaws.[2]
Overview[]
In Sonic Labyrinth, the Gaikokos appear as enemies exclusively in Labyrinth of the Castle 4-3. In gameplay, they will appear out of thin air. They are rather easy to avoid, as they hover slowly. When the player approaches them however, they will attack by spouting flame puffs from its jaws. Unfortunately, a Spin Dash will not defeat a Gaikoko, as they are invulnerable, making walking out of the way the only viable option to dodge them.[2]
Powers and abilities[]
Gaikokos are able to appear out of nowhere, and shoot fireballs in three directions. They are also invulnerable, making any attack useless against them.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Gaikoko's name is derived from gaikotsu, which means "skeleton" in Japanese.
