A rolling, firework-spitting lizard bot.

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Hanabii[1] (ハナビー[2] Hanabī?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, reptile-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

The Hanabiis are reptilian-looking robots. They have cyan bodies with an upstanding torso each, four black wheels on their bottoms for locomotion, two arms with hands that faintly have three digits each, a head with a hemisphere attached to the neck behind it, red jaws, cartoonish black eyes, and a straight tail with red stribes each.

Overview[]

Hanabii

A Hanabii firing at Sonic, from Sonic Advance.

In Sonic Advance, the Hanabiis appear as enemies. They are encountered exclusively in Casino Paradise Zone.

In gameplay, Hanabiis roll back and forth, but will occasionally stop to launch orange energy balls into the air which will damage the playable character, making the Spin Jump an inadvisable attack to use on the Hanabiis. The safest way to destroy this Badnik is to perform a Spin Attack, Spin Dash or melee attack with GameboyB and attack its base. Also, upon their destruction, they will release an Animal.

Powers and abilities[]

The Hanabiis are able to project energy balls from their mouths.

Trivia[]

  • The Hanabis' name is Japanese for "fireworks".
