— Humpty, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (16-bit)

Humpty is a character that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. He is a mass-produced bounty hunter Badnik created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.

Appearance[]

Humpty profile

Humpty is a short, egg-shaped robot. His head, arms and feet are short and lime colored, while his torso is yellow. His head also features two antennae, what appears to be two ears, and a bandage. On his back, he also has what appears to be a thruster.

In the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series, Humpty's appearance is largely the same, except that his torso is dark green and green instead of yellow.

History[]

Past[]

HumptyAoSth

Two Humpties trying to battle Sonic, from "Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad".

In the recent past, Dr. Robotnik gathered many of his old bounty hunter Badniks, including two Humpties. The doctor told them that he wanted them to catch Sonic, and if they did, he would give them one billion Mobiums. Immediately afterward, all the Badniks headed out in an attempt to catch the hedgehog when he revealed himself. The Humpties tried to catch Sonic, but they ended up being destroyed by the hedgehog.[1]

Season one[]

Another Humpty was later seen gathering scrap for Dr. Robotnik, along with several other Badniks.[2]

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine[]

In the 16-bit version and 8-bit version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Dr. Robotnik assembled many of his old bounty hunter Badniks, including Humpty, and told them to kidnap the beans that inhabited Beanville so he could turn them into robot slaves using his Mean Bean-Steaming Machine. Later, Humpty was the third Badnik the player battled and defeated.

Personality[]

Due to his body, Humpty is very clumsy. He struggles to keep his balance, and does not like people who can maintain their balance naturally. He is also a very violent robot, who carries out his leader's orders without question. As a bounty hunter, he also loves money, and will do whatever he can in order to earn tons of Mobiums.[1]

Battle[]

Humpty is the third boss in the 16-bit version and 8-bit version of Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

Boss guide[]

Like with the other bosses, the battle against Humpty takes place in two "dungeons" on each side, the left one being from the player and the right one from the doctor.[3] To defeat Humpty, the player has to fill his dungeon to the point where he is unable to drop any more beans. This can be done by dropping Refugee Beans into his dungeon, though Humpty himself can fill his own dungeon by accident.

During the battle, Humpty will be a passive opponent, though he can still pull off combos. Otherwise, the player can defeat him easily.

The player loses when their dungeon is full of beans. After that, they are sent to a Continue screen and given the option to play again. If they win, however, the game will lead to the next boss, Coconuts.

Trivia[]

  • In this battle, Humpty has the same AI as Sukiyapodes from Puyo Puyo, the game on which Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is based.
