A famous Shamaran fortune-teller who knows much about the powers of the moon and local legends. Apparently even people from cold and distant lands catch wind of Iman's miraculous talents and decide to visit her.

— Directory, Sonic Unleashed (Xbox 360/PlayStation 3)

Iman (イマーン Imān?) is a character that appears in Sonic Unleashed. She is a human resident of Shamar and a famous fortune-teller whose reputation extends to the farthest corners of the earth.

History[]

Xbox 360/PlayStation 3[]

During her carrier as a fortune-teller, Iman managed to build up a reputation that made her well-known throughout the world, even though her predictions were not always right.

Some time prior to Sonic the Hedgehog's and Chip's arrival in Shamar in Sonic Unleashed, Iman lost her Crystal Ball, leaving her business closed for the time being, which led to a long line of customers building up in front of her business.

When Sonic and Chip first arrived in Shamar, Iman met them and asked if she should read their fortune, claiming that her predictions were right most (or some) of the time, but then remembered that she had lost her Crystal Ball, and offered to tell about Shamar and its culture instead. As Sonic agreed to it, Iman then told them about Hallowmoon.

Later on, Lmain met Sonic and Chip again, where she asked them if they thought Shamar was unusual, before telling them about how Shamar's people gave thanks to everything they see and about their philosophy that there could not be morning without night, which was the reason why they gave thanks to the moon for bringing the sun each morning during Hallowmoon.

Sometime later, Iman met Sonic and Chip again after they restored Shamar's continent, where she told them that she thought they were an unusual pair and that they looked like they could save a planet, before laughing as she told them that she was, or was not, pulling their legs. In either case, Iman got Sonic and Chip's attention and offered to tell their fortune, claiming that that her fortunes were most of the time right, but then recalled that she had lost her Crystal Ball. She then asked Sonic and Chip if they would help her find her Crystal Ball, and was overjoyed when they accepted her request. When Sonic and Chip returned with the Crystal Ball, Iman was overjoyed and told them that she was much obliged to them before telling them that they had to wait for her to predict their fortune, as there were a long line of customers ahead of them.

At least half a day later, Iman met Sonic and Chip again, where she recognized them and thanked them for helping her resume her business. Iman then explained that she was a famous fortune-teller, though she told them that they could believe what they wanted, before offering to tell them their fortune on the house. After making her prediction, Iman told Sonic and Chip that her fortune telling power was unique as it came from the sun and the moon.

Iman later watched on in horror with the rest of her town as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, but rejoiced as the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.

Wii/PlayStation 2[]

Iman never made an in-game appearance on the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed. She did however appear during the pre-rendered cutscenes, where she and the rest of Shamar watched in horror as Dark Gaia began to cast the world into darkness while maturing into Perfect Dark Gaia, but rejoiced as the world returned to normal following Perfect Dark Gaia's defeat at the hands of Super Sonic and the Gaia Colossus.

Personality[]

Though some may question whether her fortunes are true or not, Iman respect those peoples' beliefs, though she can get angry about such replies. She has extensive knowledge about the customs regarding Shamar's culture and its annual Hallowmoon celebration.

Powers and abilities[]

By her own accounts, Iman possesses the power of fortune-telling which is derived from the sun and the moon.

Trivia[]

  • The section in Iman's Directory which says "Apparently even people from cold and distant lands catch wind of Iman's miraculous talents..." is a reference to Sarianna who during some point in the game says that she had heard about a famous fortune-teller from Shamar.
