Toy Island Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is an American toy company founded in 1992.[1] From 2000 to 2006, they produced various Sonic the Hedgehog toys, most of them being for Sonic Adventure and Sonic X.

Sonic Adventure (2000)[]

Shortly after ReSaurus, Toy Island released their own line of Sonic Adventure toys.

Figures[]

Action Figures[]

This basic 5-inch series of action figures is the main focus of the Toy Island line. The figures of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were not received quite as well as the ReSaurus figures of them, due to Sonic and Knuckles having heads that were a little strange in shape. Tails' body was very large and chubby in comparison to the other characters, and his expression was considered by many consumers to be "goofy." This series did, however, release well-received sculpts of Big the Cat and Robotnik. These figures came with accessories such as Chaos Emeralds, real metal Rings and many of the figures came with miniature sidekicks, such as Tails, who came with a Chao, Dr. Robotnik had Kiki, and Big the Cat had Froggy and a fishing pole.

The figures had magnetic shoes so that they could run over the Rings, making it look like they are collecting them. Big also had a magnet in his fishing rod.

Toy Island released three 10-inch talking figures which were similar in sculpt to the 5-inch figures, but were not quite as misshapen. They each could speak two lines extracted from the Sonic Adventure video game.

Sonic X (2004-2006)[]

After Sonic X made its debut in the US, Toy Island began releasing action figures based on the series. Many of their figures were re-releases from their Sonic Adventure series, just in new Sonic X packages. Many new sculpts were also released.

Action figures with accessories[]

After Sonic X aired in the United States, Toy Island re-released their Sonic Adventure action figures in new Sonic X packaging. The sculpts were altered—Sonic and Knuckles' heads were fixed, the magnets in the shoes were removed and many of the accessories were discontinued—no more Kiki or Chao, however, most of Big the Cat's accessories remained. Dr. Robotnik was relabled to "Dr. Eggman". The figures were at some point released in Japan by Kid Galaxy, and later distributed by Feva in the United Kingdom, Grand Toys in Canada, and MacDue in Italy.

Each figure came with two Chaos Emeralds, except Cream, who came with Cheese and one emerald. These figures were well received and were considered an improvement over the first wave.

Megabot Series 1[]

ToyIsland SonicX RBX-D05

The completed RBX-D05 figure

The Sonic X Megabot series is a set of six figures, five of which each come with a piece of the a robot's body. When the five figures are collected, they can assemble the pieces and have a completed Megabot figure. RBX-D05 was the name advertised for the Megabot figure and was scheduled to appear in Sonic X, but didn't make the final cut and only appeared in the original pilot. The sixth figure in this series is a second Sonic in a different pose, which comes with a gunner bot and a big spring loaded "X" from the show's logo. The figures were based off the artwork for the show.

The figures of the line were later re-released, having updated and improved sculpts. Eventually, they replaced Amy with yet another Sonic, this time he didn't have a new pose but came with Amy's part. This could be due to the incorrect color of her arms on both releases.

Super Posers[]

TI Super Poser packaging back

Back of the packaging.

Two six-inch action figures of Sonic and Shadow were released, each having twenty-five points of articulation. This made them the most articulated Sonic action figures by Toy Island and the most articulated Sonic action figures to date.

Tails and Knuckles were planned for this line as seen in prototype pictures of all four characters, but only Sonic and Shadow made it to final production.[2] Initial releases of the Sonic and Shadow figures had their eyes angled, but later releases fixed this issue.

These action figures were later re-released by Jazwares, and the articulation style was used as the basis for all of their action figures. Jazwares eventually released their own original sculpts of Super Poser Tails and Knuckles, but continued to use the sculpts by Toy Island for the Super Poser Sonic and Shadow re-releases until the end of their license with the series.

10-inch Figures[]

The 10-inch Sonic Adventure talking action figures were re-released in Sonic X packaging. The three figures no longer talked, but still had the buttons on their feet.

In the UK, the figures were released by FEVA and contain working voice boxes. The figures now have lines from Sonic X instead of Sonic Adventure.

Bendable action figures[]

The Sonic Adventure 3-inch bendable action figures were re-released individually in Sonic X packaging, and one new figure was added, being Shadow.

The Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles figures were also available in box packs with three Chaos Emeralds, and possibly one other character. One of the box packs contained an exclusive golden Sonic, which was not available individually. It was just a repainted Sonic, and not Super Sonic, however. Other releases of this pack swapped this figure for Dr. Eggman or Shadow.

The figures were released in Japan. The Japan releases consist of a box set featuring Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy and single card versions of them. Interestingly, the single card versions come with a couple of Chaos Emeralds and the back of the single card versions boxes have the images of the 4 inch figures of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles.

Sonic the Hedgehog 15th Anniversary Statue (2006)[]

Sonic 15th Anniversary statue

In 2006, Toy Island produced a statue to commemorate Sonic's 15th anniversary. The statue was 7 inches in height, made of resin and limited edition as only 2500 were made.[3] It came with a certificate of authenticity that included which number of 2500 it was too.
