Metal Sonic! I gotta admit, of all the robots I've faced, nothing was as fast or as dangerous or as cool-looking as that.

Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Super Special Magazine #3

Metal Sonic is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. He is a Badnik[1] duplicate of Sonic the Hedgehog from the In Another Time, In Another Place Zone, created by Dr. Eggman to outmatch and defeat Sonic.

Appearance[]

Metal Sonic is identical in appearance to his Prime Zone counterpart. Created in Sonic's image, he is mostly built of blue metal. He has a yellow circular depression in his chest with a black center, mirroring the peach skin on Sonic's chest. His head has metal fins resembling Sonic's quills and a pair of triangular "ears". Metal Sonic has a muzzle, shoulder plates, upper arms, legs, and fingers made out of silvery metal. His palms are black, while the backs of his hands are square yellow plates. His forearms and lower legs are blue metal like his head and torso, and he has red feet with white stripes designed to resemble Sonic's shoes. He has optic sensors with black sclera and red irises.

History[]

Sonic the Hedgehog CD[]

Sonic Saves Amy ATAP

Metal Sonic being defeated in Stardust Speedway, from Sonic Super Special Magazine #3.

Metal Sonic first assisted Dr. Eggman in his attempt to conquer the Little Planet, which involved the kidnapping of Amy Rose. This culminated in a race against his organic counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog, in Stardust Speedway. However, he was defeated, causing him to crash into a wall while Sonic rescued Amy.[1]

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II[]

Broken metal

Metal Sonic pulling himself out of the wreckage, from Sonic Super Special Magazine #3.

Some time later, Eggman would return to Little Planet during its annual return, where he would retrieve and revive a still heavily damaged Metal Sonic.[1]

Olympic Trials[]

When Dr. Eggman trapped Sonic's friends at the Olympics, Sonic challenges the doctor. Making an excuse, Eggman had Metal Sonic compete in his stead. Metal Sonic would subsequently engage his organic counterpart in every Olympic event until they reached the final event; the hundred-meter dash. At first Sonic was too worn out to run, but after he empowered himself with the Olympic spirit, Metal Sonic was soundly defeated by Sonic and retreated with Eggman.[2]

Personality[]

Powers and abilities[]

Described by Sonic as the fastest and most dangerous robot he has ever encountered,[1] Metal Sonic is capable of matching Sonic in speed and abilities.
